I have one question before i part, me and ash arnt formally engaged yet, i plan to ask in the coming months, but my question is......if i planned to ask in the usa, do u think it would be wise going through security with the ring? Im thinking it would raise unecessary alarm bells with security, becase obv i would have it in my hand luggage. However, if found, i would surely br able to state that i am applying for i129f and a k1 if approved, and tehrefor dont plan to overstay etc.....

What are your thoughts??

Ben!

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I don't think the people looking at your hand luggage even know your marital status.

As an example, I gave Kata a ring which he wears, and he has never been questioned about it, ever.

He's been back and forth with it for three trips now, wearing it each way.

EVERYONE PLEAE NOTE.... the link that was supplied above shows all shots required, WIHTOUT taking into consideration age and gender. Please follow the following link for accurate information. This is what was provided to me by the embassy, and every single panel physician across the globe is required to follow these same requirements.

http://www.***removed***/immigrant-visa/technical-instructions-panel-physicians-vaccination-requirements.pdf

These shots greatly depend on your age and gender.

Yes, it is true that rotovirus is only for babys!

Great link - thank you for that! Although the link I provided will take you to the same info if you scroll to the bottom, it's a couple clicks away though so this direct one is easier.

On the CDC website I find this bit of info pretty important:

Significant changes in U.S. immigrant vaccination requirements since the last revision in 2007 of the "Technical Instructions to Panel Physicians for Vaccination Requirements" are—

# Meningococcal conjugate vaccine, specifically tetravalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), should be given to persons 11 through 18 years of age. Meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine (MPSV) or other forms of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (e.g., monovalent MCV) is not an acceptable alternative for this age group.

# Influenza vaccine is required for applicants 6 months through 18 years of age during the influenza (flu) season in the country of examination for immigration. Influenza vaccine continues to be required for adults 50 years of age or older.

We are given influenza vaccines by our employer (if chosen), and I had the opportunity to discuss the necessary vaccines with the Vaccination expert at my Healthcare Center, and she determined which vaccines from the list I should take. I pointed out Rotavirus, because I had never even heard of it, and they were suprprised to even see it on the list as it is automatically given to all babies in Finland these days (not when I was born). Also, please note that the person revising the list should have access to information about your health - as said above, the final list depends on your age, gender and medical condition, and certain waivers are possible.

from what I understand, it is possible to have your medical done beforehand as it is valid a full 6 months, and I plan to book mine as soon as we get a notification for our NOA2. That way it will be valid when we file for AOS but I will hopefully have it taken care of when I get my packet 3 and that way will hopefully get my interview date as soon as possible. But, this might be be the case only in Finland.

Thanks for the 3 replies guys.

My main concern was thet if they see a engagement ring in my luggage, theyll know i may propose and may think i intend to overstay. But obv not cos of k1.

However, i totally didnt think about the tax situation. So for the sake of another 6 weeks. Ill probably just wait till shes in this country!!

The countdown was meant to be just to give you an idea of when you hit the 5-months (processing time estimate).

Hello,

I had a question for everyone. I am a new member to the site. I haven't been able to find anything concerning if you all have filed yourselves or are going through an immigration attorney. I'm sure you know the risks and price differences for going either route. I was just curious, are the majority of people using attorneys or filing themselves?

Status: Just got engaged. My fiance lives in Indonesia. I've read a few posts and spoke to several attorneys.

Thanks all!

Stephen & Vitia

Ps.... I live and will be filing out of West Palm Beach, FL.

VisaJourney is mainly a website for those who wish to do this process on their own. You'll find that the majority of the people here have done this by themselves and will generally recommend that others do it themselves as well, unless their case is particularly complicated or has any "red flags" that might require legal help. VJ is an invaluable resource and most of the questions you have can be answered here. It's full of people who have gone through the process and have their experience to help others. :)

We're self-filers.

This is actually my (petitioner) second time going through this process.

To be honest, being a second-time filer for a foreign fiance(e) might be a "red flag" itself, but I'm far more comfortable being in control of my own destiny than putting it in the hands of a lawyer, especially hearing some horror stories of people on here and just how little some lawyers out there actually know.
