That sounds lovely!! We are going for a "retro / country / garden" wedding, or at least that's what we have in mind.

Do you guys have a date for it yet?

Not yet.

Probably sometime in September, or early October, it's looking like right now.

I may have to plan around my parents going on some trips around that time, but we'll see.

Kata wants to invite in his parents and brother, so we'll have to see what we can do with that, too.

Countdown for interview is now down to 2 weeks... I'm starting to feel it... the nervousness  but my lovely man is coming in 2 days :luv: After 7 months.. finally.

Hows your packing coming along?? It's such a dreadful feeling to know you're taking your life in a suitcase... Chris keeps telling me I should just take 1 outfit for every day of the week. He is such a guy

Love y'all! :D

Dee

My fiance is just packing all his clothes and shoes. He is giving away/selling all the rest of his stuff before he leaves. He keeps saying he cant wait to see the backside of his town  but I imagine it will sink in more when the date gets closer.

AT LAST! Approved yesterday! :)

I thought we'd been forgotten & it was really beginning to get us down.

Now I'm in such a whirl, I don't know what to do next...

Well done to all who've got to this stage & hang in there all of you who were like us...

Paul (& Gina)

At last and congrats!! What a relief eh? Don't be a stranger keep us posted on the rest of your journey!

Congatulations!

Well then, fellow Jan filers - if you discount all the "unclickable" names on the spreadsheet, who don't seem to post anymore, then that makes us, officially, in last place!

There's almost a little pride in it

My goodness! :(

Have you spoke to anyone at the DOS at all?

My goodness! :(

Have you spoke to anyone at the DOS at all?

You'll have to forgive me a little unfamiliarity with US govermental structuring/terminology (I'm the Brit) - is the Department of State separate to USCIS, with its own number to call, or is it an umbrella term for smaller departments such as USCIS?

What we have done: Alex called USCIS on June 13 and put in a service request. We also wrote to her congressman, and e-mailed VSC (VSC.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov) saying that we were well past the 5 month mark and were requesting expeditious processing.

Alex actually called USCIS again today, and asked to be put through to a Tier 2 Immigration Officer. The IO's responses were interesting for their ignorance and incoherence. She compehensively dismissed the validity of any references to Igor's List (warning: "you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet"), said the petition adjudication process "usually" takes between 6 and 9 months, and to questions such as "can you affirm that it is indeed accounted for and not lost or misplaced, and is at some position in a queue to be assessed eventually", said "this isn't Vermont Service Center, you'll have to ask them." We received the same response when we asked why the process wasn't chronological, or first-come-first-served.

I'd heard that the customer service IOs were notoriously obnoxious. She actually wasn't obnoxious. At all. She was probably worse - utterly impassive, monosyllabic and monotonal, and despite evidently knowing far less about the process than I, refused to admit her ignorance and supplied outright misinformation.

I suppose we've done all we can do, and shall continue to wait it out.

Thanks little_g, & we will be. We maintained constant contact with VJ & email digests, but it just got a little hard to keep positive & partake when the wait went on & on.

I am extremely disappointed with the US Embassy in Moscow. I called them today to ask a question and I found out that they made a mistake when they sent me an e-mail with my interview date, so the real date is August 2nd, not August 1st. I mean, one day is not a big deal, but what if I didn't call???

This is a good reason for following up with the Department of State to confirm the date. Never trust just what 1 person says. When 2 people say it from 2 different sources, then it is a better chance it is accurate. They should be more accurate, but they are human as well. At least you now know. I thought it was odd having an immigrant type interview on Monday when they know the medical needs to be before this.

Now I'm going to always ask twice, or even 3 times and try to get the information from different sources.

The thing is that I have read on Russian forums that some people had the same problem (also August 1-2), but I figured that I should probably wait for Packet 4 to arrive. Packet 4 still didn't arrive and, well, i was concerned about that... and I also decided to ask them about the interview date. Good thing that I haven't done the Medical appointment yet and hadn't booked the tickets or the hotel yet.

Yeah, I have confirmation from DOS, Embassy and congressman's office. My fiancee has not received the packet either. She is just following the instructions on the embassy website. I also send an entire copy of all the evidence, I-134 with financials, etc to the embassy directly as well as left her a copy. From what I heard, they already have an opinion formed before the interview, so I tried to make sure the opinion they have is that my fiancee will likely get the visa. Did not hurt that my congressman's office followed up even though I had not asked them to.

Ok, i got packet form in the mail and it says i need to go to this link:

http://londonembassy.gov/visaforms.html

Problem is, the link no longer exists on the embassy page.

The letter says something about filling out form IV19 before the interview but it's nowhere to be found on the London USA embassy site... anyone from the UK have any idea what they are asking?
