Hi everyone, i have a question.. is 1040 same as tax transcript? coz my fiance sent me the 1040, but ive always read about a tax transcript..if ever those two arent same, are scanned copies okay? :bonk: Help!!:crying:

Check the Embassy requirements. For example, the website of US Embassy in Moscow says:

Most recent year tax returns (form 1040) or tax transcripts from IRS

So I'm going to use the 1040 form, but they require the W-2 form anyway, even if I'm going to bring the transcript. The rules and required documents are different for each country, so the best thing is just to check the local Embassy website or contact them.

I confirmed, we are in "Additional Processing". I have decided to enroll the help of my congressman's office once again. Tired of this ####### of big black holes that no one can tell you what is going on, other than we are delaying things. I am so upset right now!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your AP. Hope it's over soon.

Check the Embassy requirements.

ALWAYS good advice!

Every embassy is different and requires different documentation.

Mostly, I'm just offering personal experience. The last time through this process, when I used a 1040 instead of the transcript, I got an RFE for not providing 'supporting' tax documents (1099s and worksheets used to fill out the 1040). This was at the AOS stage, so I'm not sure how strict the embassies are about these documents.

Just make sure that if you are using a 1040 that you have all the tax worksheets, w-2s, 1099s etc. Better to have them if needed than get stuck having to wait on approval because you didn't provide them. Also, if you have time, request the transcripts anyways! They come in /fast/ and you'll need them at the AOS stage anyways!

Thanks! He requested his last 3years of tax transcripts last night.. We also have W2's, 1040, bank statements, employment letter, pay stubs for affidavit of support.. Guess its better to be over-prepared

Quite a few late Jan filers now... slightly concerned, wondering why we've been skipped over...

It's worse in a way expecting to get the approval at any moment - before VSC kicked into overdrive I was quite calmly anticipating a mid July approval. Now my days structure around hourly status checks, and (thus) hourly disappointments.

I've inadvertently systematized my discontent; trapped myself in a high-concept Woody Allen film

At this point, I just want a answer either way.

Feels like I'm stuck in this holding pattern day after day.

Everyone was born equal...only a select few become Firefighters.
