So I just called and NVC and they said our packet left for the embassy........does anyone have any idea how long it takes the packet to arrive at the embassy. What time frame are we looking at?

1. Go to: http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef

2. In Reference, enter the info as follows:

EXP DD MMM YYYYA

EXP is constant

DD is the date before the day the NVC said they shipped the case.

MMM is the three letters representing the month the NVC shipped the case

YYYY is the year the NVC shipped the case

A is constant

For example, if the NVC says they shipped the case on February 12 2009, this would be entered as "EXP 11 FEB 2009A"

3. Date range for shipment - From: Enter the date of the day NVC said they sent the case

4. Date range for shipment - To: Enter todays date

5. Keep the rest of the fields blank

7. Once you enter the info, press "Track"

8. After a while you will see a list of all of the packages that left the NVC today. You need to search for the specific consulate.

9. When you find the shipment the corresponds to your consulate, you will see the tracking number that you can record.

10. You can then track the shipment from the NVC to your specific Consulate

January 6th filer still waiting.....

Its really rubbish seeing people after us being approved, but i am still so hapy for you all :)

Ashley and i are going through a bit of a rough patch, shes getting scared as to whether we'll work out after i move, and therefore is unsure of getting married ....eeek.

So im now contemplating what to do. Its certainly not easy atm, and tbh im not sure if even being there sooner would help us out.

Been looking at other options like work visas and even student visas, but i am afraid that on application of one, theyd question why i have stoped a k1 visa app, and even thinking ahead of that, if we wanted to marry in the future then i am afraid theyd say i entered on a work or student visa unlawfully as i already knew Ashley.

God give us strength and pull us through this, i ask you all to pray for us.

Ben :(

hey Ben, just hang in there :) im sure both of you will work it out.. waiting isnt easy and it sucks, being apart causes strain on any relationship.. i know how it is.. just have faith on each other  when you get your NOA2, im sure its super soon, both of you will be super happy.. im sure ashley will be too  good luck!!!

Wow Ben, the one thing I think everyone here knows is the stress and pressure the whole process waiting for a visa can put on a relationship. What she is feeling is normal for many people getting married period (cold feet) but only maybe she has the fear of added guilt say if it doesn't work out, god forbid, did she uproot you from your home and move you away from friends and family etc. Just have an honest chat and reassure her that you love her, you made it this far together there is no reason not to believe you can't make it the test of your lives and you want to move to be with her, it's your choice and you love her enough to do it ad not think twice about it. But truly you both just need to be open and you especially need to reassure her of everything.

I've been with my fiancé now for about 4 years we've waited a loooong time for this. I have no fears about it as we have had a long time together but if I did crop up with worry he would be the first one I'd talk to and all I'd need to hear him say is "it's gonna be ok" :)

Yeah, I feel cold feet is more than normal, extra normal in a situation like ours on VJ.

marriage with rushed wedding planning

moving (and to a WHOLE new country)

for some living together for the first time

for some becoming a step-parent

for some starting college for the first time

some it means spending an extended period of time together for the first time.

Wow, that is a lot of transition!! And transition, no matter how you swing it is stressful and hard.

I hate to say it but after the honeymoon period we are all in for more stressful times than we are now!!

Who is to say any of us can take the stress, be supportive and patient enough? Who is to say things just wont be the same once we settle in with our loved ones? In what ways will personalities change? Will it click? Will they be able to be happy in America? Will our relationship be the same? What if it doesnt work? money spent, time spent, peoples emotions invested.

It is just sooooo much more to consider and worry about than couples who live in the same place!

It takes faith that things will work out for the best, and a level of knowing you will be able to accept it if things dont go the way you want them to! That is the sheer reality of it all!

I recently went through this cold feet thing and you know what; I was soooooo freakin excited when we got our NOA2. Also, Hamilton and I sat down and talked about the many ways we are compatible and our many incompatabilities. We talked about what there was to work on in our relationship and how to be more supportive of each other while we go through this transition together. We were very real about discussing the possible out comes and what would happen if for any reason things do not work out between us when it is all said and done. The conversation offered me reliefe. We talked about my fears, his fears, and created a plan together as partners.

We are going into this hoping that we will be happily ever after, having faith that things will work out for the best (either way), and ready to accept the outcome.

It may seem cold to some of you to think this way, but for us it is very grounding.

I hope this helps anyone going through this. I am praying for all!

Ashley

Thank you to each of you for your replies.

I try to talk to her but we never reach a conclusion.

I guess i am a lot more needy for a bit of attention and being away i can only get it in written messages, which Ashley hates doing and wont to over the top.

Ive tried suggesting moving as soon as i get my visa, but she wants to wait until shes ready and wont rush it, but i feel that that day wil never come.

My current idea is to see if shed be up for me going over for a couple months as of next week to trial everything on visa waiver and actually live as we would.

Otherwise i cant see us lasting till sep/oct in seperate countries.

I think youre right that i need to reassure her, but i also need to prove to her that shes not going to lose her indipendance. But i cannot prove that from another country. She needs to trust that shell still have her life and ill still have mine.

I know you get 3 months to marry after POE, but i feel that will be too late and that i wont even get to POE. I just need to show here she'll have her own life.

Thanks for listening VJ. Im sorry to ramble on.

Ashley

Ashley - you said it. A wonderful, amazing, truthful and most of all an honest message! Me and my fiancé have gone through exactly the same thing, I have had cold feet, panicked over what is in store for us in the future, panicked over what I need to give up. But in the end, it's about what you can gain, right? And if you don't try because you fear the failure too much, you'll never know how it would've been and will regret not giving it a shot the rest of your life. Unfortunately love is not always enough.

I love the way you put it:

We are going into this hoping that we will be happily ever after, having faith that things will work out for the best (either way), and ready to accept the outcome.

I so agree. Thank you for putting my thoughts into words Ashley, I couldn't have said it more perfectly myself (F)

Ben

How long have you guys been apart? Sometimes when we spend so much time away from our loved ones we tend to forget that chemistry that we have when we are together. We get so comfortable in the long distance relationship that we get use to being independant still, kind of feels like we are sort of single. To all of a sudden have someone around us all the time could be threatening to a woman in fear of losing that independance. However, what we need to know, for those of us leaving our countries, is that the person we are willing to uproot our lives for are willing to fight for our relationship no matter how tough things get. Being in seperate countries and having these relationships is already a test in itself and a test to whether or not we are willing to stick in there and fight through this. I would be so sad if Ashley chooses to not continue with this but if this is something she isn't sure of, and doesn't hang in there through the long distance, then now would be the time to find out as much as it would hurt you. Long distance is a true test as to whether or not we are willing to hang on, during these tough times, for the ones we love.

If you 2 have been apart for a few months a visit for a week or 2 would be a great idea before calling anything off. That's all she will need is 2 weeks together to figure out if she wants to be with you or not.
