You abbreviated and they understood because you're from the states. She abbreviated an abroad adress. But lets hope she doesnt get rejected!

Asking again: So if we get it back, do I fix that mistake on p.2 of I-129F, print it out and put it with the original packet again? Can I sent all the other forms and papers back in again?

Anyone know?

And I abbreviated it on the G-325A form as well, do I have to send my fiance a new and corrected one that is signed? The I-129F he can do himself but since the G-325A has to have an original signature I would need to send him that to the U.S., right? Oh boy..

@Mari & Kadir: First, you do not have to be rude about it.

If you do a search about receipt vs. notice date, you'll see plenty of people have said to use the receipt date.

I found three threads saying to use the receipt date myself searching just now.

However, I did not see that link on the timelines that DiZZyLoX posted. Thank you.

I will update my NOA1 date to the one listed as Notice Date when I get home.

I was not aware that this had changed since I first filed a few years ago.

And apparently a number of other people aren't aware as well.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... you are wrong. I have my US Official I-797C, NOTICE OF ACTION in my hand to double check.

The NOTICE DATE: is the date you are in the system (The box in the upper right hand corner) Ours is Dec 2, 2010

The NOTICE TYPE : is a Receipt! THERE IS NO DATE IN THIS BOX & you do not go by the email or the text; that is not the US I-797C official doc. This is only the notification.

The RECEIVED DATE: is the day the USCIS got it in their hands and signed for it. Ours is Dec 1, 2010

You need to look at your official document and check the facts before you publish or you might confuse somebody.

And just to be sure I also checked my USCIS website account with the Receipt NUMBER (WAC##########), and the NOTICE DATE Is the date you are in the system. There is nowhere on my Status that reads another date such as the Received Date, or the date I got my email & text.

***Sidenotes and FYI only *** Your I-797C (NOA1) also shows your PAYMENT INFORMATION for the Application/ Petition Fee: $340.00 (If filed on or after Nov. 23, 2010).

Initial Review

On December 2, 2010, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Sorry if I came off bit brassy. However, I found you offensive as well when you state that something is wrong "as far as you're aware" , and only go by UNOFFICIAL [threads] data vs. USCIS OFFICIAL data from the actual I-797C in this case.

Always check the USCIS website and / or call a USCIS Office for verification if unsure of information on VJ. Especially be careful if going by what was done in the past, but not what is currently used by the USCIS today. This can cause yourself or other VJ members RFE's (regarding documents needed, evidence, etc.), or disappointment from what they thought was their timeline vs. what actually IS, according to the US GOVT.

For example: Only last Nov. 2010 the fees for I-129F changed from $455 to $340. USD on Nov. 23, 2010. I was about to send our packet in literally on Nov. 23 rd but with the amount which would be considered wrong on that day ($455 which was valid just a day before). Good thing I had an email from a very good friend who happens to be an Immigration Atty. I made the Bank Check for the correct amount, then submitted a day or two later. If I hadn't, this would have caused us a delay and an RFE because the USCIS would have sent our entire package back to us for the proper fee amount! Really not a big deal as we would have corrected this, but in waiting pains to be with him, yes it would have hurt.

That's my point for always checking for official verifications if you are not sure before publishing on VJ threads, that's all. No harm done, and no need to think anyone is attacking you either if corrected. This VJ site information is based on the US Dept Homeland Security / USCIS information and will refer you to the USCIS website if you are unsure. Many of the VJ Veterans are incredibly knowledgeable and if one of them in a thread does not know, or misinformation is said, then another will come and correct it with reference. Overall, the VJ community is very friendly and helpful

Good Luck to you!

I apologize if my statement came off as offensive to you. It was not meant to be.

I simply used 'as far as I'm aware' as meaning I wasn't certain and I was open to being corrected if that was not the case. I had done some research before making that statement, but I acknowledge my mistake.

Moving on now...

Fingers crossed for you two and a big HUG. With my sweetheart out of country when they request more info it's going to take forever for them to get forwarded from home and this is going to cause some delays I'm sure... *sigh* too!

Where can I find this memo? If so, I will have my fiance do the same. Or do you think it would be OK to white out that part on the G-325A on the one they send back and have already scanned? In case we get it back I just wanna make sure to do everything correct the next time and to refile right away...

I would be careful in using this memo. It is over five years old and things could have easily changed at USCIS by now. Everything I have read states that original signatures on the petition and the G-325A are required.

Here are some threads discussing it:

Here is a thread discussing it:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/153341-i-129f-and-g-325a-beneficiary-signature-not-required-or-photograph/

There is a conversation posted and pinned at the beginning of the K1 Forums with the Director of the VSC. Dated 2009 (4 years after this memorandum) and he answers to Gary:

"G-325a, Signed or Unsigned? Unsigned.

WHAT? Ok I have seen the memo but lots of VJ members got RFEs for unsigned G-325s, what gives? They do not have to be signed, they can be signed at the consualte interview. Some adjusicators haven't read all the memos, we get hundreds of the things, and maybe they make a mistake. If you want to be sure there is no mistake, sign it. Or send a letter expalining why it is not signed and request it be signed at the interview. Do you have that memo?

It is on the VJ website somewhere You can print a copy of that and send it with the I-129f and G-325a."

Of course, it is totally up to the criteria of who is sending it, they could play it safe and send the G-325A with the signature. We sent it without a signature and they said nothing about it in the rejection notice (wrong fee). I would think they would say something about it since they are sending packages back for things like adresses.

A wrong fee is something that is noticed at the Texas lock box intake. That is one of the criteria for rejection. They look at the check and the I-129F. Texas does not review the rest of your petition, therefor would not review your G-325A. That is something USCIS would send an RFE for, not rejection. They may accept scanned signature, and for your sake, I hope they do :) On the other hand, I've read numerous people getting RFE'd for scanned signatures. It really all depends, I guess. I would just use caution in depending on an outdated memo.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/I129F_G325A_110105.pdf There ya go! This is the one we printed out and placed behind my G-325A

Thanks so much! So they send a green cover with the rejected application? Interesting, probably so they see right away when they open the mailing envelope that it's a refiled petition...
