My boyfriend is looking to come visit me here in the US in November so we are looking at different websites to compare prices. So far the lowest all inclusive price we have found is £347.52 for LGW>IAH return. (thats not including a train ticket from Hull to London or me driving to Houston though :P)

We still have plenty of time, but I am just wondering what websites some of you have used here.

Life long Texan, living in Hull, UK. How did this happen?

11 January - We met online and became friends

4 February - Became a couple

17 March - I went to Hull to meet the guy

20 March - First "I love you"

25 March - I go home :(

16 November - He comes to visit me in Texas

25 November - he leaves back home :(

14 December - ENGAGED! <3

1 March- I fly off to see my babe in Hull

4 April - I go home :(

9 October - He comes back to Texas!!!!

13 October - WEDDING!!!

22 October - He goes back to England and I continue to wait for my settlement visa.

13 December 2007 - Move to England

Now the wait begins, I will become a citizen then we will DFC back to the US.

Most of our flights have been directly with Delta. Usually there is only a 10-20 pound difference from the other "discount" sites, and when booking directly with them online you typically get an additional 1k sky miles, you will find this with most airlines if you book with them you can get free miles. I always search the bonus sections, because they sometimes give additonal free miles away if booking a ticket trans-atlantic, those miles add up fast when you do this. There is nothing like earning a free ticket and you have to weight out if the savings you get on discount flights will add up to the value of a freebie flight.

We have also often found if you travel on tues-thurs you can often get a better deal, just keep plugging in dates during your search.

We have I believe on one occasion booked with Orbitz.

During our search a month ago USAir was coming up with cheaper prices, but watch the layovers with them.

BA have the only direct flight and United have a major hub in Denver. And I do not want a 10 hour lay over or to miss a connection and have no more flights out that day.

And it has been a very long time since I found cheaper prices on other web sites than their own.

I personally thought expedia was terrible!

Thomas Cook I find normally has cheapest price, EBookers was good too though. I was a little nervous the first time not having a paper ticket in my hand but it all went fine! Once I got charged hundreds to flight to see SO because I left it too late, so let that be a warning to you! :hehe:

Airline Network is good, but if you need to make any changes on the itinerary, the airline won't honor the change w/out a fee (my fiance learned that the hard way) because you bought the tickets through a 'third party'. But if you don't have to change anything, you'll be fine.

That said, we've almost always found the best rates directly on the airline's site, but track it for a while and see how the fares trend before you buy.

I hope this helps any one. Im really digging the 1800flyeurope. I was looking for a ticket for Nov and every where I looked it was around the 700 range. On this page I found it for $462.
