I found a job in LA, the company is Ok to sponsor me.

We agreed on a salary and position with option to improve quickly.

They want me to come to work for them asap.

They said that they will change my tourist visa for a working visa when I will be there.

Is that possible?

they have a company in europe and think they will pay me through this until I get my visa.

do you think that is possible?

did anyone had the same experience??

also they don't seems to provide a contract, they are Ok to provide me a letter to prove employment to be bale to find a flat.

In Europe you always get a contract when you start to work somewhere, is it not the case in US??

any advice will be welcome, I really want this job, it will be an improvement in my career but want to follow the rules.

thanks

as far as i know (w/c is not very far, hehe) if you're a non-US citizen, you have to have a working visa prior to coming here. if you're on a tourist visa here you can't get a job because that would be violating your visa (unless they're a very special US govt agency or something like that that allows them to change your visa for you).

second, any legit regular job should come w/a contract especially if they say will change your visa for you so not having one is weird.

check and double check so you don't get yourself into trouble. if you violate visa rules you will not only get deported but banned from coming back as well. :)

I am sure it is possible, equally sure it is illegal.

You can not adjust in country, you attend the interview at a Consulate abroad.

Of course it is you who will suffer negative consequences.

You might want to mention that you would like to discuss the process with their immigration lawyer.

That is possible, but that is close to impossible as of now. Their is a VISA Retrogession going on as of the moment and you will not be able to adjust your status from Tourist to working Visa. If you decide to work now and stay beyond the allowed period then you will be overstaying amd be banned for 10 yrs.

Company is not telling you the truth, i suggest you talk to an immigration lawyer
