I would also take an old VW Rabbit diesel or the Audi Quattro over the Mustang.

Would be a little closer, though.

LOL

I just don't like the GTO. It looks nothing like the old GTOs, while the Mustang looks somewhat like the old Mustang. The GTO looks "generic". It looks like just about any Pontiac product from 1987 to the present.

But yes, my hatred of GM probably plays a role in it.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I have to agree with you there - the Mustang's exterior is great. I love the somewhat retro look,

but unfortunately the interior is cheap and yucky, which is probably why I'm gonna go with the GTO....

I also like the 1986 Buick Grand National. It's sweet. B)

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Find me a Grand National that is driven daily and isn't puking oil everywhere, knocking like mad, rusted out, or leaking anti-freeze everywhere and I'd consider buying it.....for $50.

I live in New York City. I don't need to drive it daily, only occasionally - for fun, on weekends, etc.

having had the 4 door version of the GTO back in Australia i am obviously biased towards it.

i had absolutely no problems whatsoever with mine. fit and finish was great, bags of power and mechanically fantastic. in the next month will be taking delivery of an 06 GTO.

matt

ps: in case you may or may not know. the current Pontiac GTO was designed and built in Australia by Holden (used to be a division of GM but now a stand alone company) and is imported into the USA until %th September, 2006.

I wouldn't drive it *any* day. I wouldn't own a GM product that was made after 1972. Rather have a Yugo.

What can I say? I'm old-time hot rodder. I still own my first car.... a 1971 Chevy Nova with a 427 and a Powerglide. I decided early on that all GM products from 1973 on (the year they added A.I.R. pumps and all that #######) were total junk. Later, when I became a mechanic, that was verified.

Of course there are people who have no trouble from their GMs at all. Likewise, there are more GM cars than any other on the road in the US, so that is what I would see the most of as a mechanic. Still.....there's a reason GM is planning on killing off at least 2 more divisions soon, that SAAB has gone to ####### since GM bought it, and that sales of GM vehicles have gone down in recent years.

Don't worry....I don't like Chrysler much better, although they're improving greatly since being bought by Daimler-Benz, and Ford is still below almost any "import" on my list of desirable vehicles.

I would, however, take a 1959 Plymouth Fury, a 1968 GTX, a 1967 Camaro, or a 1958 Edsel Ranger over ANY car being offered today....
