1. go to web sites of the colleges/universities you are interested in

2. find the section for international student admissions - there should be an email address who you can email with your specific questions

3. find the email address of the international student office at that university and contact them

4. most international students are required to take either TOEFL or IELTS exam before applying for studies - check what each college you are interested in requires

5. after you are accepted for studies, you need to work with international student office to receive DS-2019 and then SEVIS form

Naturalization 2010

Do you have someone who is sponsoring you or are you funding your own education? The reason I'm asking is coz, if you have a sponsor, it's a lot easier to move to the US. However, as already suggested, the college website should be able to give you detailed info. on how to apply, funding, etc. It used to be TOEFFL when I came here, not sure now. It should all be on the website.

The college system here is a lot different from Pakistan. Here you take your classes per semester, which are about 5 months long. There are two semesters in a year. In order to be a fulltime student you have to be enrolled for at least 4 classes per semester (part time is 1 to 3 classes). Every class has credit hours (3 or 4 credits per class) and you have to pay per credit. You need 12 credits per semester to be fulltime ( 4 classes x 3 credits each = 12 credits). A Bachelor's degree requires about 120 credits to graduate ( 4 years.), an associates degree requires 60 credits to graduate ( 2 yrs.). You can enroll in an Associates degree and then transfer into a Bachelors program. International Students have to be fulltime. Here's an example:

Let's say you enroll in an Associates degree program and You need 4 classes to be fulltime. 1 credit = $350 dollars (this is an example, the college you choose may be less)

You need 12 credits ( $350 x 12 credits = $4200). $ 4200 is your fees for the four classes. But you will have to pay registration fees, technology fees, student activity fees, etc. so your total may be around $5000.

but that is how you will calcuate credit hours.

Let me know if you have any questions..
