what i don't understand is why people act like it's a surprise. why the whole self-entitled rants? "i'm mr and miss U.S. Citizen and i demaaaaaand some service"!!!! i mean, the U.S. Govt. didn't MAKE you marry someone that isn't a U.S. Citizen. we all knew it was not going to be "i now pronounce you U.S. Citizen because you married one", right?

if people hate the system so much then why not pack all your sh*t and move to your foreign mate's country? ohhhh that's right... because as much as people b*tch about the States, it's probably a whole lot better than the mate's country.

the time frame given to us are estimates. NOT U.S. BACKED GUARANTEES. if they want to get you out of there as quickly as possible or let you rot for an eternity, guess what, that's the choice we made.

I am opining here having had much more that the average amount of interaction with various government agencies inclucing immigration. It is not wrong to demand service, and furthermore we should demand a very high standard of service. Of course we cannot demand outcome and I do not believe that anyone here really expected that.

You seem to be saying that whatever level of service the government deems appropriate is what we should collectively be grateful for............Sorry, but we are the ones paying the bills and we should expect a very high standard of SERVICE! We demand a return that is appropriate to our expenditure in the private sector, yet we pay far more for our government services and receive substandard service in return.

Specific to immigration, why should there be a need for expediting anyones cases? Why is there an avenue for expediting? Simply because the current system is so fundamentally flawed that there is a built in assumption of inefficiency and unnecessary delay. Among the criteria for seeking expedited handling are Humanitarian and Economic hardships. Are there any among us our family members overseas who do not view this process as a humanitarian or economic hardship? If you do not view it as a humanitarian hardship, you are in a fraudulent relationship, if you do not view it as an economic hardship, your taxes need to go up to help pay for the bloated salaries of our federal workforce.

Y'know, my family and I probably will not permanently reside in the US. We would like however to be able to travel to the US as a family unit to visit our family here. Short of an immigrant visa that can not happen because of the legal and codified assumption that every visitor to the US is an intended immigrant.. If not for my family living in the States, I would already have moved there. If you love the system so much as it is, I would be all too happy to opt out and be one less payer funding the morass of bureaucratic ineptitude that our government has morphed into.

It really is sad that some believe as you seem to that the government on a whim either "get you out of their as quickly as possible or let you rot for an eternity". Is that what we collectively now as a people are supposed to tolerate?

I think this forum has run it's course for me. When people who have filed just a short time ago and make the statement's they do with total lack of consideration for those of us with problems with the process and have waited 6 month's or longer it's time to stop coming here for advice. Goodbye and may God bless all of you in your journey.

my whole point was that not everyone gets screwed. you're right. it is a matter of opinion to say that the service people are getting is substandard. what are you comparing it to? seriously, you act like you've never been to your local dmv and gotten screwed by the bitter person behind the desk.

all i'm saying is that bitching and moaning about the whole experience really is pointless. we all signed up for this, didn't we? we all knew exactly what was going to go down. 5 months and change at CIS and 4 and change at NVC blah blah blah. it's a choice to say boohoo look at me i have to wait months and months oh god forbid a year for my spouse. at the end of the day, though... did it make the wait go by faster? did it change the way the system is ran? no it didn't and it won't change anytime soon.

it's just my opinion that it's a little pathetic to bash the same system and the people who work in it and at the same time clamor to live in the country that employs that system.

It does not matter that "not everyone gets screwed". It is a HUGE problem that anyone gets screwed. So you dont like to vent about the unbelievable Bullcaca that some among us have been subjected to and i generally dont vent about my problems either. Some people need that vent or an occasional rant to blow off steam. So what, dont read em if they bother you. Of course no one expects their rants or venting to directly change the system. What they are hoping to do is to raise everyones awareness of the potential clu$terfvck that could lay in wait for you where you dont expect it. Dont put your blinders on because you are offended by whining. Pay attention

Point is the system is seriously flawed and just because it has not bitten you in the a$$ does not mean that it wont.

We should have higher expectations of our government and public servants not only for ourselves, but for everyone.

It wasn't meant as an insult. I was trying ,in a humurous way, to tell the person to be patient by paraphrasing the GEICO commercial with R. Lee Ermey.

I get tired of seeing people whine about situations that they put themselves in by their own choice. It's one thing to complain about how long the process takes but it gets ridiculous to hear people make assumptions about how bad the workers at USCIS are just because it is taking longer for their petition to be processed than what they expected. I am not a USCIS employee but I am a Federal employee. I am in my 36th year of working for the IRS and I know that just like any private company or organization the USCIS and IRS have many good employees and a few bad employees. So I get mad hearing complaint after complaint about how bad the USCIS employees must be just because someones petition is not moving as fast as that person thinks it should.

There, I have whined about whiners on this forum.

well, if you have read enough you will know WE ARE NIT JUST SOME people...theres a whole lot of us and its not like we just filed a month ago! we patiently waited and now we believe we deserve to know what is going on with our petition because we are all way over their own so called estimated time frame. we are not just whining for nothing. so if it bothers you to read all our frustrations, then why are you here in this forum anyway??? Coz obviously your opinion is not needed specially if your only here to mean to us.

Perhaps you should have elaborated a little more on your 'humour' then? As, not every country in the world broadcasts GEICO commercials.

Every company has their good and bad, but you have to remember that as well as being a portal for strong information, probably the biggest that their is outside of the 'official' channels on the web, its also a place for support and advice. Not everyone has a bucketload of patience, or sympathy for the agencies. I think they do do a good job, thankless task, BUT when you take to the phones and speak with CSR's that give you INCORRECT INFO, repeatedly, patience and sympathy tend to wear a little thin.

Whiners...nice turn of phrase! Thankfully, the majority of members on here are supportive.

I am trusting that you can be counted among the efficient and conscientious employees at the IRS. it is unfortunate though that the bad apples in federal work almost forces never get tossed as they would in the private sector. There begins the creep of inefficiency that surely affects the ability of the good apples to dutifully perform their jobs. Surely you can see this in your daily work?
