U need to be present in US for your biometric, Citizenship Interview and also for Oath. Normally they suggest not to leave country between Interview and Oath. So its better not to leave after submit docs.

."

Dear RICARDO4EVA2,

I have replied Mitra according to my personal experience. I don't know whether those are wrong or right according to processing instruction.

I applied for Naturalization on May 2010 and have my Oath Date in Jan 2011 ( Which is about 9 months). U can't tel that it will finish by 6 months. Anything can happen which may make delay. In my case what happened, In interview they did not ask me for my marriage certificate (I had my marriage certificate with me that time). But after 1 week they send me a letter and ask me to go same place where i went for interview with my marriage certificate and when appear to them with my marriage certificate they asked me why I did not give them my marriage cert last time. But true is , the lady who took my interview first time did not ask for marriage certificate. And for that i have delay of about 1 month for Oath.

In my case, when I applied I submitted Last 5 years Tax file docs and letter from Landlord and I did that according to instructions published in uscis.gov website which is as follows -

"

If you have taken any trip outside the US that lasted 6 months or more since becoming a LPR, send evidence that u continued to live , work and/or keep ties to the US

"

and lastly, In my interview they asked me not to travel before Oath.

Hope... my experience will help others to get idea about their Naturalization journey.

correct so your submission of the info seemed to be because you left the USA 6+ months and so you had to show the "ties you had" so that being established for the average filer the "proof of ties would not be necessary if not over seas more than 6 months."

"

and lastly, In my interview they asked me not to travel before Oath.

Hope... my experience will help others to get idea about their Naturalization journey.

understood and i agree the 9 months was in your case (1) but i'm referring to the n-400 journey based on the national average which is 6 months... not here to beat on you at all.

your case(1) could have due to fbi check/name etc cant say the specifics but the good thing is you got through the process..

Deshi bhai,

I just saw your post, You already got your oath date! It will be great help for your wife that you're upgrading your F2A to IR1. Less hassles and less wait time. As you saw that February visa bulletin didnt move and may be your wife case also be freeze for visa availability if more people are waited ahead of you from Bangladesh. even it doesn't matter if you're current on priority date. According to visa law visa number will given to country limit availabilty. I would suggest you if you already got citizenship certificate, you can email to attach copy of your USC certificate to USEM Dhaka at dhakaiv@state.gov and request for upgrading your case to IR1. They will treat your wife different way as she will be spouse's of USC. Less grill at interview time.

CONGRATULATION ON USC !!GOOD LUCK!!!

Miami Boy -

It seemed as though you provided the email for the local consulate. IF he is requesting his case be upgraded he would need to contact the NVC by email/phone - why? because they have the case and the embassy that WILL handle/receive the case has no knowledge of him/wife etc and that a case was submitted. So unless the case was tranf. there which it is not since he's awaiting instruction from the NVC he must contact the NVC to request a status upgrade.

RECARDO,

(aqwer) got his interview date for 15th February 2011 and also his PD is current for next month too. His case already sent to the embassy for visa processing. Only consulate office will change the status if he make them request. NVC has nothing to do with this time unless for it obtained for visa number. The reason I suggested him, there are over 8000 Bangladeshi applicant waited on waiting list provided by DOS on Nov 1, 2010. His wife might get retrograted by country limit availabilty. I wouldn't take any risk if i have done citizenship before 1 day of interview. It will change a whole alotta at interview time.

It would be benefit any one to upgrade to the "IR" category I'm for that!! If the application/case is at the NVC this (case category change) can ONLY BE DONE AT THE NVC STAGE. The Consulate has nothing to do with the upgrading of the application keep in mind the consulate would have NO knowledge of the case so therefore cannot make a change. It would be the same if the case it at USCIS you cannot email the NVC/DOS for CSPA because they too would have no knowledge of the case. They have a process in place - for example if the case it at the NVC and was scheduled for a interview on a future date you cannot contact the consulate to change it UNTIL the case is forwarded to them... then only a change could be made. At that time you cannot contact the NVC to make any changes to the case file once transferred to the consulate. Makes sense..?

RICARDO,

(aqwer) case already being forwarded to USEM Bangladesh. Remember NVC is only media of receiving and sending documents between Consulate office and DOS!! NVC(DOS) has certain criteria that Applicant could make changes in their case file like Adding derrivative child, upgrading category, etc. which they could do before sending to USEM office. In that sense, Applicant also have an options to make changes at Embassy level too, like reschedule interview, change of address, upgrading category before issuing final visa!

So his wife can make changes at interview time just submitting a copy of USC certificate.

Note: DOS only schedule interview for consulate office of their monthly capacity NOT NVC.
