EAD approved need some advice regarding Drivers License

my EAD have been approved. i wanna ask if after getting SSN can i apply for DL? and if i can get a DL do i need to get new DL if ever green card approved?? i mean do i have to take written and actual test again after green card??? thanks in advance.

Driving privileges are granted by state not the federal government, so rules are different for each state.

Depending on what country you are from your state may or may not accept your foreign DL and may require you to go through the learners permit process.

Some states issue permits or DL that expire when EAD or GC expires other states issue 5 or even 8 year DLs

No need to change a DL after GC issued until DL expires.

My friend driver's licence expired, and he applied for a new one with his EAD.

At first they wouldn't wanna give him one and told him to wait till after his AOS interview.

He needed it real bad...so he went back and talk to a different person.

He is glad he did!
