3 speed???!!! Three on the tree? Phil, that is SO not cool! Why not just use your Mom's Rambler station wagon? How did you ever pick up chicks?

He had it jacked up in the rear with big slicks on it, and glass packs out the rear. It looked and sounded cool.

Actually the family had a Pontiac station wagon with the large wood panels on the sides.......I wanted a GTO for my first car but could only afford a VW.....I hopped that up and actually had very fun times in it.

I hung around with the Greasers as opposed to the Bikers so I got to ride around in Camaros, GTOs, a buddy had a baby blue 68 Challenger, and another true Greaser with T-shirt and smokes rolled up in his sleeve had a tripped-out, turbo-charged Road Runner.

Fun times all around. Lots of draggin' parties out in the preserves.....this was when the cops would come by and join the action (and have a few brews).

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

He was lucky he had three gears...my first wheels was a 67 Pontiac Firebird with 326 engine and get this.....TWO speed automatic....HORRIBLE top end wobbly as hell but we had wheels and an underdash FM radio with 8-track player... Those two-speeds transmissions went on to become favorites for pro drag racers until they started building their own trannies.

We had pickup trucks. Nothing else would do. I had a 1959 Chevy shortbed with the gas tank behind the seat. Who ever thought of that sh*t???? No seat belts. Steel dash board. Of course it had a gun rack with a Marlin M99 semi auto .22 in the window. Always smelled like gas in the cab and you could hear it sloshing around. Of course, in those days babies rode in cars standing on the front seat with Mom's arm around them. How the heck did anyone ever live to adulthood? Jeezum...if I was a young man now and tried to pick up some girl for date in that rig her father would call the SWAT team on me!

There were drag races but no cops came around, because there was only one or two at any time working in the entire county.

But I fully understand the concept of "You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill, and I won't trade it for a Coupe deVille"

Many of the younger cops and preserve rangers were also part of the "draggin'" crowd. Actually we all were more serious about the cars than causing trouble......usually just beers, the stoners hung around by themselves, and we didn't tolerate looting or vandalism.

Our Mecca of the day was a trip to King Speed Shop on south Torrence Ave in Lansing.

See...that's the point I always make these days. Back then...only the best of the best survived! Nowadays, we have dumbed everything down so much that the biggest morons in our society live and procreate more rapidly than everyone else. We've destroyed the process of natural selection.

Actually...now that I think about it, we haven't really...we as a society are now weak and will fall to some other less PC, less compasionate society. But I digress.

First car I had of my own was a Mitsubishi 3000. I used to have a blast in college driving that thing out in the country whenever I need a break. Ohio has some great hills.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

Those Mitsubishi 3000 were beauty's. The AWD version was a big hit here in Alaska when they first came out. I never owned one myself, but pulling up next to one and watching it take off...omg that car looked mean...from all directions. This was back in the early 90's I think...or maybe late 80's.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

An engineering buddy of mine during the beginning of my working life had a real Shelby Cobra.....talk about taking to the hills !!!

Wow..RUB forum..Hot girls, Guns and Cars... Any reason why others are jealous??

We have it all. The Brits and Canadians have butted in on one of our other threads (looking for good food) and ruined it. Nothing to do now but abandon it to them. It is like gangrene, you just gotta cut it off! Poor things. I know they admire us and hold us in awe (plus they like to check out our profile photos of the hot chicks)but I can't stand all the attention. They just gotta get lives!

My hot wife has a hot car. I have a mini van and a plain jane F150. But I have buttloads of guns!

Ohhhh man...!! I was just chatting on the phone to a very hot Ukraine chick, it's 4am there in Kiev.. decided to see what happened here with our invasion....that was pretty funny Gary! Almost spit my tea out....

As far cars, I guess I grew out of the Pontiac Firebird phase, at the moment I have an Audi S6 with a 352 HP V8. But the Damn roads are so beat up here in New Orleans, it ain't worth having a nice car. I'm very close to dumping the car and buying a Bass Boat and truck setup. :)

Go for the bass boat and truck! I actually bought a boat at an auction last year but then sold it and made about $2000 on the deal. It was way too big for what I want anyway. I need a boat and a snowmobile. I live right near Lake Champlain (just a few blocks) and there are snowmobile trails right behind my house!

Yeah and the fishing out here is phenomenal. Plus, I think a Ukraine girl would probably enjoy fishing. Well maybe enjoy catching them, I think the taking them off the hook part, the cleaning them part, baiting the hook part, well those are probably man jobs. ....

I cannot speak for all Ukrainian women. They LOVE to eat fish and you should not think of throwing one back. Alla thinks the dumbest laws in America are the size limits on fish you catch. She has no desire to handle a live fish or live bait. If I bait the hook for her, she will sit and hold the fishing rod. For about 5 minutes. Then she takes off her clothes and goes swimming or sunbathing. So OK, I can handle that also.

The deal is that we (the boys and I) catch the fish, clean them and give her the meat, washed and ready to cook. She will cook it.

Fisherman are allowed to catch and sell certain species of fish here, perch and whitefish among others. Alla loves fresh perch. Who doesn't? The ice fisherman take them to some of the local small stores, but Alla, always the Ukrainian..."Go to the source, go to the guy CATCHING fish" So I will occasionally go out to the ice fishing "villages" and it is not hard to find someone selling perch fresh out of the hole. We also buy our eggs and milk directly from the farm.

You will NOT catch Alla walking around the ice on Lake Champlain in search of perch.

I didn't expect the men to be as romantic (you know, after those fourteen layers of coldness peel off). Seriously, I'll never date a man from my home again.

And I didn't see the high fashion ultra-sexiness in the women I expected. Naturally beautiful... they don't need to overdress, anyway.

The food was pretty good. I expected to hate all of it.

Oh, I drank the tap water and didn't get Montezuma's revenge. That was wonderful.

But the worst... the cold. Having lived most of my life inconstantly 80-100 degree weather places, I didn't think it would be humanely possible to be so cold.
