Hello? Good day to all VJ members. I hope somebody could help me with my question. My husband got laid off from his job last year and because of this, his child support had backed up already so he owed money from IRS.I'm gonna start my job soon and I'm gonna file my taxes. Which is the best way to file my taxes ? married jointly or separately? ( because im preparing for my ROC next year! ) My husband said we could file seperately for the meantime because he owed money from IRS and when everythings ok, (When he settled everything for the child support, he said we could file jointly). Is it ok to file separately because of his previous tax obligation?

Any response shall be highly appreciated. Thank you very much.

One item sent in when removing conditions is showing joint returns.

Or you could file Married filing separately if you are using this to protect your portion of return from back child support, the sending copies of the separate returns should be fine as long as an explanation for the separate returns is attached, and the returns both show same home address.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
