Ya but this has interviews with people from her town. Pretty embarrassing, they ask by a show a hands who thinks she deserves to die and they all raise their hands....They show another town person saying it is one of the happiest days of his life hearing that she would be killed....Watch the video...very disturbing

Is CNN a johnny-come-lately to this issue?

(the video is barely newsworthy--as I have seen reports since 1993 of Christians arrested for "blasphemy", and also of Muslims being mob-murdered on such charges. Specifically London Times in 1998 covered one of the latter which occured in Lahore--a landlady wanting to get rid of a tenant for a higher-paying one, incited a mob to bump-off the tenant when he returned from work citing "blasphemy", but was revealed by her neighbour afterwards to the police)

It's seriously a shame what's happening to this woman, but she is getting the kind of media attention that hundreds of Pakistani women burned to death each year by their in laws for minor flaws or infractions are not getting. I wonder why.

Be cautious when attributing things like this to religion. There have been recent genocidal wars in Africa where Christianity has been the professed religion of the aggressors! I think this sort of thing has more to do with cultural attitudes than with religion itself. Religion is twisted by its adherents and detractors into ridiculous contortions. Not that I like religion myself!
