Hello All!!

Everyone here has been so much help to me and I need to call on you again. I received my Fiancees package yesterday containing the intent to marry, G325A, and the photos. The photos I am realyl worried about. I had my passport type photo done and it was a 2X2 picture set against a white background. This is of course the same thing I did when I got my real passport picture done. What she sent is more like a wallet size picture and is rectangular as opposed to square. It still shows the same amount of her as mine does though. Upper chest area to top of head. I tried to put it on a cd and have it converted to a 2X2 but both places said that cant be done. My question I guess is do you think it will be rejected if I send it in as is? Obviously having her do more pictures and sending them here will cause a big delay but having it rejected and sent back by Immigration would be even more of a delay. Anyone have any advice on what I should do? I know they are really particular with the pictures. As mentioned above although we have different sized pics they still show the exact same. Thank you in advance to any advice offered.

I am pretty sure pictures must be 2x2, white background, both ears showing, no hats.

If it´s not that way, do it again or else you might get an RFE.

That is what I was afraid of. I certainly do not want to get an RFE. It looks the same as mine and even has the white background but the size is different. I guess they have different ideas of legal passport photos in UAE. Thank you for the help. If anyone else has had experience with this please share. Thanks again.

Matt, have her get new ones done, but have her ask the photographer to do them 5 cm by 5 cm's and put it on disk so she can email you. You can have them printed here, and save about 10 days in the mailing process.

You will do plenty of waiting when your application gets to the California Service Center. And I would suggest being picky about the photo you send of her as well.

I had J do that when the original passport photo she sent didn't quite measure up (hers would have been too grainy and washed out in my opinion.) She had a heck of a time getting the guy to understand, but the end result worked beautifully, and by emailing me the picture I saved a good week or more.

hi matt. just have her redo it and make sure that this is for US visa/passport application. there is a document on the USCIS website which tells the size of the photo. maybe have her print it out and show/explain it to the person taking her picture. although the physical features shown is no different from what you have, it may affect your application .... id rather not take the chance. also i agree with ready4one. if she can have the photographer give her a digital copy, then you can go to target or walgreens and have them print it out for you based on US requirements.

hope this helps :)

The USCIS said that you can cut the photo down to 2"x2". I also asked the American Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and they said the same thing. I had no problem when I submitted my Fiancee's altered photo! I cut it down to meet the specifications.

Thank you all again. The problem is it is smaller then mine. It is about 1 1/2 X 1 3/4. Of course I cannot narrow it down to 2X2 because it is already smaller then that. The digital thing is a great idea though and something I had not thought of. I guess if anything it should be bigger then mine so it can be narrowed down to legal standards. I will be talking to her later this evening. Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I will keep you posted.

Matt

what i sent to my fiance was not 2x2 rather than the rectangular or smaller than 2x2... thats the passport size pic in the phil... we thought that maybe we should take another one, but the one who helped us process the petition said that it was ok... so far the only RFE we got was the IMBRA... i hope there wont be any RFE especially if its a matter of photo size issue

What is IMBRA? I keep hearing that term but am still learning the abbreviations.

Anyway that is encouraging. Perhaps I should just send it in and see what happens. I just dont want anymore delays. I already know its gonna take forever to do this whole thing. Anyway thank you for the help. I have to talk it over with her to see what she thinks. Not sure why UAE would read the guidelines she showed them and give her something different. Irritates me.

Thanks again everyone for all of the help. I am almost feeling like a pest already but obviously I am totally in love with this girl and cannot wait to marry her. I know that all of you can relate and I wish all of you a speedy process.

IMBRA International Marriage Broker Act or something like that... They added a check box, yes or no, as to whether or not you have arranged your marriage by a paid marriage broker.

The law was passed in January, but the forms were not updated till something like June, so the good folks you see who applied for K-1 during this time period and are still waiting for NOA2 were delayed with an RFE seeking to find out this information.

When you read the instructions on I-129f, you'll find a brief explanation on what IMBRA's about and what's the impact when applying for a K1.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Basically, it has to do with criminal convictions (you'll find which crimes matter there), marriage brokers as per the legal definition and multiple filings.
