What is the precedent then? I merely quoted what he said, but I took it off after his threat.

THe precedent here is that he took two quotes of mine out of context and put it in his signature. I was told before that it is ok if you quote them literally, but not in such a way as that you distort what they say or takes it out of context.

Ah, ok. Well I was officially warned, so I took it off. Apparently, there's a bit of confusion from the Mods as to what is permissible and what isn't.

In any case, it's amusing that I was even reported for merely quoting his exact words.

The funny thing is, when he did it to me, I reported him and he got a 7 day ban. He then goes to expats and whined like a child about it.

I could understand if this a clear violation of TOS, the violator being fairly warned first, but I don't understand these long suspensions unless they are second infractions within a certain time frame? Oh well - I suppose it's better off that quoting another member in your signature is against TOS across the board, but it should be clarified since members have long been able to do so before without warranting any disciplinary action.

If I recall correctly, he only got a suspension because he did not respond to the initial warning, because he was offline. Seems pretty harsh.

So basically, its only a TOS violation because it takes it out of context of the original post. Didn't think the TOS actually addresses the topic of "context" but oh well what you gonna do.

And no there is no suspension if the statement is an accurate quote.
