I have a couple of quick questions - i am a US citizen and i am petitioning my brother ( uk citizen ) all is going well started about 2 yrs ago , my main question is how do i see what place his file is pending as all the offices show approx 5 months EXCEPT for California , is there a way to see what department this has been sent too ?

Also i am getting ready to file for my mum and dad to move here ( uk citizens ) i heard it will take approx 1year , what steps do i need to do is it an I-130 as well and how much is the cost as welll as the extra steps involved ..then i heard it may be quicker for them to sponser my brother is that correct ???

Firstly you posted this to the K-1 forum which has to do with fiancees of US Citizens, not family immigrations.. Will move this.

Yes a parent gets a visa under the unlimited class so as soon as USCIS approves as and sends to NVC, a visa number will be assigned to the cases. (Note probably less than a year, more like 9 months from filing to getting a visa)

As for brother, look at Visa bulletins on DOS site, it will tell you when petitions are being issued for F4 class petitions. http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html

Thank you very much YuAndDan for the help in moving this to the correct place .....

Do you have any other information regarding what else needs to be done for my parents as well as cost , or is it just file the I-130 each and wait till it they get the visa ( is that a permenant resident card ??) Do they have to do anythink else after this ?
