NASA Warns Global Warming Models Wrong -Don't Account for Cooling Factors

Pooky's post framed the discussion as being two-sided, which is a fallacy.

And perpetuating that falsehood is why those seeking to further investigate climate change are running out of road. The discussion is two-sided. But what both fringes here fail to appreciate is that the science is continually evolving, as the NASA piece the OP article is based on proves.

The science community needs to rebuild public confidence before it will even be taken seriously again by the general public. And until there is a lesser degree of uncertainty, any move toward environmental protection measures is going to fail, because the GW advocates here in the USA no longer have the pull in Washington, the EPA will get de-funded if it tries its own regulation and those parts of the world that we need to take action will not do so.

Bold action sounds like such a great catchphrase, but it will go nowhere. The science needs to be at a point where there is no doubt before action will be taken. It's not there yet. It needs to get there soon.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

No, but in a democracy policy can not be changed unless we the people consent to it. And if we the people don't trust our scientists, then we the people's trust has to be earned (or re-earned).

Not if Algore, may his name be blessed, who is God's one true prophet, to whom all things environmental have been revealed, teaches otherwise. In Her One True Name should all infidel blasphemers be persecuted: Gaea must be satisfied.

Your right Steven, I do now accept NASA as the athority on the subject.

Classic Gar-John (above post), and then, right there on NASA's website:

The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is very likely human-induced and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented in the past 1,300 years.1

Earth-orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale. Studying these climate data collected over many years reveal the signals of a changing climate.

Certain facts about Earth's climate are not in dispute:

  • The heat-trapping nature of carbon dioxide and other gases was demonstrated in the mid-19th century.2 Their ability to affect the transfer of infrared energy through the atmosphere is the scientific basis of many JPL-designed instruments, such as AIRS. Increased levels of greenhouse gases must cause the Earth to warm in response.

  • Ice cores drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, and tropical mountain glaciers show that the Earth’s climate responds to changes in solar output, in the Earth’s orbit, and in greenhouse gas levels. They also show that in the past, large changes in climate have happened very quickly, geologically-speaking: in tens of years, not in millions or even thousands.3
