Great hockey so far, al the games have been great to watch, just to bad our Canucks are not winning. They have come up against some very hot goaltenders, but theyshould have a few goals!! I have stated to my hockey pals that Canada was in for a rough run, and to be honest I thought the gold was out of reach for them. But ya never know, they did start out slow last Olympics as well.

The Womens hockey team is a powerhouse!!! I watched the Sweden /USA game and it was great. The Sweden Goalie --Martin--Was superb. Canada did beat Sweden 8-1 in prelims, but MArtin was not in net, and Sweden didnt play their hardest. Canada/Sweden played before the Olympics and Canada only won 2-0, MArtin stoped 42 shots, so todays Final game should be a great one, maybe even another upset.

Our curlers are not ripping up the ice either. looks like both my squeak into the playoffs, but I think that depends on todays games.

But overall I think we are doing well. Olympics have been great to watch, and a lot of upsets, and a lot of people like bodie Miller not living up to their hype, and that one snow boarder chick, show boating a bit at the end, when she thought she had the gold wrapped up, only to fall and end up with silver.

Go Canada Go

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

But I think the biggest surprise of the Olympics has been the US Men's Curling Team. They barely qualified for the Olympics and now they are the favorites to win it all. An amazing turn around. Goes to show that if you're hot, sometimes there's nothing that can stop you. But I do find it interesting that NBC hasn't mentioned anything about it at all, seeing that Curling has the second largest viewer share at the last winter games..

And I love it that Bode Miller has fallen flat on his face and that Jim Hendrick guy really hasn't done squat either. I hate all the hype and arrogance that NBC pumps up. Actually, I really hate how NBC has been covering these games. I (like I do every year) have found myself gravitating to CBC.

Can't get CBC here. I think the coverage on NBC has been good. As well you can find it on CNBC and MSNBC during the day. Commentary is a bit lacking. At the end of the curling coverage, NBC interviews a player and asks stupid questions and then gives them this tupid bread loaf that looks like a flattened curling rock!! As in any sport its all who is hot at the moment. USA is curling well, canada sure isn't, hopefully they can get into the play offs and do well. The Womens USA team is a good bunch of young curlers, they just need some more experience. Im sure this won't be the last you hear from those girls. I was never a big fan of Canada skip, Kleibrink. Gushue is a good curler as well, but again, more experience is required

Well I was a little upset when I woke up early on Saturday morning (even set my alarm on a Saturday) to watch the Canadians loose to the Swiss ... That Swiss goalie sure was hot ... And the Canadians were having some serious problems moving the puck through the neutral zone ...

Canada better seriously find their "game" and quick or they could be on the outside looking in ... Against the Fins, they once again looked unorganized (too many individuals not enough team) and had trouble gaining the zone ... And when they did eventually get organized and gain the zone the Finnish goalie would stand on his head ....

Zero goals in two games to me is unexceptable ... We have the best of the best out there and yet they still can't put one in the net ...

PS for what it was worth, that awesome save that the swiss goalie did, THAT WAS A GOAL !! His glove/puck was totally across the line even though you couldn't officially see the puck across ... Regardless even if they would have been awarded the goal they still didn't deserve to win anyways ...

Totally agree about Gushue... even with Russ Howard, the inexperience of the other three is definitely showing. But with some time, I think they will be a very good team...

The US Women as well. I agree that that have buckled with the pressure that the Olympics brings, but this experience will serve them well in the future. A lot of people in the US Curling world were counting on them and there were a lot of expectations that such a young team shouldn't have to deal with. They are an excellent team, but haven't been able to get the shots to go their way due to the pressure...

It's funny, there was absolutely no expectations for the men's team and look what they've done. A very experienced team that has suddenly gotten hot when it was needed...

Regarding hockey, Canada "may" have the worlds best players, but they do not have the best team!! And I think the Olympic factor comes into play as well. For many European countries, the Olympics mean a lot more to them, then it does to a N. American player, thus the effort is greater. Plus one could argue they are better adjusted to the larger ice surface. I wish the NHL would go to the bigger ice surface, makes a faster game.

I agree that using the larger ice surface would make for a faster and more skilled game. I actually enjoy the Olympic game a lot, it really is a joy to watch. In the "new" NHL, I think the larger ice suface would better meet their goals... However, that would involve losing lots of high paid seats and that would NEVER go through.

I was bound to happen, the lesser known teams who were not the favorites, were bound to improve, especially since Slovakia and the Finns have NHL players on their rosters and know these players (Selanne on the Finns and Hossa on the Slovaks), they are not awed by the Canadians and know if they play disciplined hockey and clog up the middle against the powerhouses they can keep them from scoring. The Finns and the Slovaks are not slouches and Canada may not eve make it to the finals, maybe even not medal. Good wake upcall for them and the rest of the world. Things change and while you are sitting around other parts of the world are improving themselves.

watching Canada vs US mens curling right now on the USA Network (5-3 Canada, start of the 10th end, woot!), they've been showing a few games (where the US are involved) early in the mornings, so at least there is some other live coverage.

I miss the CBC the most during the Olympics, they always had excellent live coverage.

This is probably a naive question, but...does the Canadian Men's hockey team still have a shot at all of getting a medal?

Yes they still have a good chance of getting a medal. They will get into the next round, but as a lower finishing team in the preliminary round, they will play a higher finishing team in the other division, so they are in for a rough ride, but not impossible.

The Canadian women just won the gold!! Great for them. They play a great game, really pass it around nice and play very much like a team.

Our Cdn curling men play the USA in the semi finals on wed and the women play the Swiss.

I try to keep track a bit. Not so interested in the medal standings, but I enjoy watching everything, even the figure skaters. Nice to see the under dogs come out of no where and win.
