Danno, this is the most depressing thread of 2011 so far. All the images of a run down Detroit are just horrible. So with that, I say IBTL!

Why did almost all the auto makers move their plants southward? Many cities were able to diversify their economy but why did not Detroit?

Maybe they just need more Socialist policies and the taxes that come to pay for that. After all when you have a Socialist Utopia and all the Socialist programs that the citizens want then the people will be happy and a happy people are a good workforce. Big bad business is rich and powerful and have all the money to pay for these things in taxes so they should be glad to pony up and have that happy workforce. There is no reason for them to jettison a city is there. Wait....oh yeah there is competition that can maybe undercut you but that happy workforce will make a better product right? Better products mean quality and so means higher costs. The competition should be shaking.

Yeah many factors come into play......right. Keep fleeing the northern cities and come south. After all you can bring the Socialism with you.

Wow, there is a bit of truth to that, the firs thing folks from up north do when they move South is comment about how much more reasonable property taxes are in the South.... the next thing they do is votes "YES" on every Bond and tax rate increase.
