I'm not saying that there was no public outcry; there certainly was. But, there is no comparison to the vitriol against Islam and Muslims as there has been in the media. There has been no call from politicians to relieve Catholics of their rights as American citizens, no cries to bomb the Vatican into the Stone Age, no demand to halt immigration from predominantly Catholic countries.

Comparable overkill? No way.

Perhaps I'm just a victim of the western press but I believe there are some muslim clerics calling for Jihad against the west. I don't believe there were any catholic priests standing up in front of the congregation preaching that

salvation was to found in the bung hole of little boys. If there were some preaching that and then 20 or 30 catholics rounded up 3000 little boys and then raped them on tv for the whole world to see, there would be cries to bomb

the vatican back into the stone age, and if there were catholics priests overseas preaching the same thing then there would be calls to restrict catholics from coming into this country even if the majority of catholics found their ideas appalling.

Could you imagine if the shoe were on the other foot and Christian suicide bombers were bombing Mosques?

Multiply the RAGE over a cartoon times a trillion.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

You guys wrongly put so much weight on what people do or don't say when committing a crime, like that is what makes a difference. It doesn't; crime is crime, and institutional crime is substantial. The Catholic Church chose to protect their priests over their partitioner's welfare, they did it for years, they did it on purpose, they lied about it, they bought silence, and it wasn't the only problem they had.

Whether they said anything out loud, or not, it doesn't take a major intellect to tell you that their actions spoke loudly about their priorities.

But, if they were Muslims, you wouldn't be so dismissive . . . that is without a doubt.

You are confusing war with crime. The priests molesting the boys considered themselves criminals and acted accordingly. The muslm guys flying the planes into buildings considered themselves warriors and were proud of what they were doing. If you have "guerilla warriors" hiding within the muslim population and using guerilla tactics the muslim population as a whole is going to have an image problem.

There are terrorists among us all, not just among Muslims. The men you refer to and their protege hung out in bars and strip clubs to fit in with western culture. You are far more likely to know them than any practicing Muslim is.

the word Jihad is overly used and in the wrong way.....Jihad can mean anything as simple or as hard as a personal Jihad to live a good life and not give into the ways of the west as in tight clothing, drinking going to parties it is used as a way in most instances as a personal war to keep clean from what is not good for us........the terrorist have turned the word Jihad into a word to be afraid of instead of what it was once.... a proud thing to do that had absolutely nothing to do with crime against another person.

So you are conceding that what the catholic priests did was a crime and what the 9/11 hijackers did was an act of war?

Like I said before, most terrorists drink, smoke, hang out in bars and strip clubs. Those are your venues, not ours.

An act of war? No. Don't be overly dramatic. It was a terrorist attack, period; not the first, not the last.

And thus the concern about Radical Islamic Terrorists still out and actively seeking to commit further acts of terrorism. It is no more complicated than that.

There is more of a chance that you or anyone else here will be killed in a drug fueled drive by shooting than that you'll be terrorized by Muslims, but that doesn't seem to bother any of you as much as the fantasy that radical Muslims are out to get you. I'll bet none of you even know any Muslims IRL. I know hundreds of Muslims, and none of them are terrorists.

The issue is not daily fear for ones person via death or victimization by a terrorist. There are many ways to die, and on an individual basis Americans do indeed face many more likely causes of death daily, just driving comes to mind as a much more likely example than yours.

I experience no recoil or fear when I encounter persons in obvious Muslim garb going about our mutual daily business, nor do I avoid or desire to do harm when passing Muslim houses of worship. I don't currently know any Muslims as friends or acquaintances, but have in the past, and they were all uniformly nice people.

None of the above negates the fact Muslim extremists exist, they are in this country and found throughout the world. They are sick, twisted and interesting. At least to me.

I have a long term and passionate fascination with serial killers, but, somehow, I still manage to keep it in check and avoid constantly posting about them in public.

Just sayin . . .

Im not sure what could be more dramatic than flying a 767 into a building. If that was not an act of war, was the United States then unjustified in taking over Afganistan?

Is what the United States is doing in Afganistan just terrorism? Are acts of war justified in response to terrorism?
