where does it say anything about this being an english only board? i cant find it... and frankly, this is a website about ppl from all over the world, not just english speaking countries... anyone can post their questions in any language they want (are able to speak)... if you dont speak that language, then just dont respond... there are plenty of others (for whatever language is needed) that can give assistance... there are certainly plenty of dutch/flemish

im amazed at the intolerance on this board... you would think that a website based on bringing together unions from different cultures would be a bit more accepting of diversity

As such, I would guess that at least 50% of the people here speak English only. I would further suggest that if any non-English-speaking people are on this board and intending to immigrate here, then they need to learn English if they intend to get a job, make friends, function in society, etc. Ergo, shouldn't English be the ONE thing everyone here has in common? Regional forums are a different matter. General topics though should be made in English so that everyone can read and understand the post.)

I didn't answer her, did I? I would have breezed right over this topic if I hadn't seen your "OMG u're all so rude and intolerant!!!!111" post. That's what made me respond. I suppose all of us in the US will be considered intolerant if we demand payment in American currency, rather than shiny shells from Elbonia, too, eh?

English is pretty much the norm for most of the Forums, except for the Regional Forums, where one can find others from their respective countries...of which I'm sure you already know this tidbit of information. However, my personal thought on this....I do believe you could have handled this a little bit differently...with less hostility - of which is a form of intolerance too, btw.

the answer that i would like to see is what the rules actually are regarding language... and you can give me opinion... so can each and every member of this site... but ewok can give me the official rule...

and why take my post so personally? there are others on this thread who have also responded to her who are not accepting of her use of language... my post addressed a general issue... it wasnt written to attack anyone or to try to antagonize anyone ( *coughs and sees the post in quotes)...

here is a response specifically for you:

belittle me with your twisting of my words to make them sound like a 12 yr old valley girl( "OMG u're all so rude and intolerant!!!!111" ) if you like... but take responsibility for yourself and your own actions... i didnt "make" you do anything... you chose to... and certainly, do not put words into my mouth (I suppose all of us in the US will be considered intolerant if we demand payment in American currency, rather than shiny shells from Elbonia, too, eh?)... of course once she is here she will need to adapt to much of our way of life, ie currency... and life will be undoubtedly easier for her to speak english... it is, however, not a requirement tho, as evidenced by MANY ppl living here who do not speak english... nevertheless, she is NOT in america now, nor are the servers for this board, if i remember correctly

yes, english is pretty much the norm... and it makes being understood by more folks easier... all i am saying is that for someone to post that vj is an "english only" board is not correct... and was asking for the official rule in reference... and if i am wrong, and it IS an english only board, then i will accept it and admit that i was wrong... pretty simple

as far as hostility (a state of deep-seated ill-will [syn: enmity, antagonism], violent action that is hostile and usually unprovoked [syn: aggression] )... i fail to see that in my first couple of posts... i did make an observation about a trend i see in this board, which is shared by others... its not dripping with hate... its not demanding that everyone stop being intolerant... its a simple observation that apparently bothered some folks... maybe its too close to the truth
