When you arrive TOGETHER in the Philippines, present your passports along with your marriage certificate to immigration, and you will be given a balikbayan stamp in your passport that is good for one year. Before the end of one year, take a trip with your wife to (Thailand). When you arrive back in the Philippines, your passport will again be stamped as a balikbayan good for another year. There are other ways, but this way is the easiest if you are going to stay for only 1 year and a few months. No problem IF you travel with your Philippine Citizen wife.

I respect your decision to let her go back home without a lot of hard feelings if she is not happy here. I also understand your need to stay here for you job. I think I may do the same if my fiancee isn't happy when she comes here. I hope things work out for you both in the end. Good luck.

I might be going back and trying for a 13a , but my wife is not yet approved to the usa, so for the above method to work we would have to leave the phil together and return together. The plane ticket cost is similar to that of the 13a fees total, so i would just go 13a (in my case)

I believe for a 13a you need a police certificate from the usa , since they don't really have anything specific to give , I think you just need a paper from a local police station showing no warrants and make sure its dated. I believe that to be good for 60 days

This site tells you the fees if you go that route

You have to get BI clearance over there, but should be no problem .

1) Apply for your 13A visa at the nearest Philippine Consulate. An expat living in the Philippines said it is much faster and easier applying for it in your home country than in the Philippines (which I totally believe).

Click about his experience/tips here: http://goiloilo.com/...ment-visa-srrv/

2) Requirements for 13A if applying at a Philippine Consulate, click here: http://www.philippin...NSULARFORMS.htm

3) Requirements if applying in the Philippines, click here: http://immigration.g...id=26&Itemid=35 and the fees: http://immigration.g...d=106&Itemid=43

4) For Special Resident Retiree Visa (SRVV), click here: http://www.pra.gov.ph/main/srrv_form

There is no savings requirement for 13A but you will need documents showing capacity to financially support yourself during your stay in the Philippines.

I applied and will probably be denied, as they don't seem to think a few hundred usa dollars a month is enough to live in the philippines on. Even though my wife works and has her own apartment. I am of no added burden as my money covers my food and helps with the bills. But it seems they dont see it that way. They would not provide a specific amount to live on . Crazy , so it didnt go well

Not true...you don't need to prove or show ANY income..I just went through the process and like just about everything else in the Philippines....there just interested in the pesos....total about 8,000p with about the same amount in one year to make it permanent. Don't sweat it...easy,but frustrating process (what else is new in PI :bonk: )!

Hard to believe...when and where did you apply? I have NO income coming from the US and no one even ask (a daughter is sending support until we DCF but , like I said, the subject didn't even come up) Pay your fee's and you'll be fine.

I paid my fees and applied a few days ago, the interviewer was a very hateful to me and my wife and she ended up leaving in tears.

here are some of the things he said

he asked if i had an ex wife, i said yes, he asked what happened and I explained my ex wife cheated and abandoned the marriage so i filed for divorce , the guy said " bet you were doing some cheating too " i thought to myself what??? Absurd ! I explained to him no , i never did anything like that

Next he went on about marriage fraud for a visa, even though my wife and I have been married 2 years and I have been here (the phil) several times.

Then he said , " you are wanted by interpol" I could only laugh, and explain no I wasn't and showed my recent police clearance from the usa , from my local police department

I also explained that i had filed for my wife to come to the usa but it was taking a long time so i came back to stay for a while . He said he didnt care and it wasn't his or the philippines problem.......

They didnt say who to call or what to do, he just told us to leave after making my wife cry . I even showed him our bank account together and how much money i brought, he didnt even care to look at any documents i handed him

<div><br></div><div>We applied in person at intramuros manila at the bureau of immigration</div>

I'm wondering about this process myself...since I'm going to the Philippines again this Friday. My wife and I plan on getting this very visa, but we'll do the paperwork on her home island rather than the BOI office in Intramuros. I don't have much income to speak of (we do have a business going but it'll take a couple months to see any returns) but her family is reasonably well-off and I don't expect any problems. The website for the BOI isn't very specific on income guidelines...matter of fact they mostly want to make sure you're not a carrier of any diseases and are really married to your Filipino spouse.
