I need some help/advice. We sent my husband's N-400 out in Nov and he went for his biometrics appt in Dec. Today in the mail I received a yellow form stating THIS IS NOT AN INTERVIEW NOTICE, but that USCIS has done a review of my husband's file and since he's applying on the basis of marriage he needs his income tax forms (I did send tax info but apparently it wasn't enough).

I called to check on his case and apparently USCIS sent us an RFE on 11/16 (the biometrics letter was dated 11/17 and it got here).

Should I be worried or should we wait for an interview letter? The letter we got today says that my husband needs to take the missing informaiton (tax forms) with him to his interview. I'm worried now that he won't get his interview letter. I checked the status on-line today and the case is "stuck" on the RFE notice.

We're not in a big hurry for the interview so we didn't check the on-line status previous to today and had no idea an RFE notice was sent to us 6 weeks ago. Could that be why they sent today's letter (because they didn't hear from him?) Today's notice was polite.

Thanks in advance,

Meredith

ps: Also, is there a way I can bypass all of these automated messages because we didn't get to talk to anyone.

The RFE IS the BIOMETRICS notice - you're done with that.

Prepare for the interview and bring what they ask for, interview letter comes really fast after the yellow notice.

Thanks?! I appreciate your quick response and the heads up about the interview. I wish they'd just said that (and that the dates were the same). I'm ordering our IRS forms now even though I know we have our tax information.

It's always like that with N400 - mystery with RFE that turns out to be -- BIOMETRICS :-)

I think it's the way their system is set up - not differentiated enough for different types of applications so they went with one the loosely encompasses all - ACCEPTANCE, RFE, DECISION, POST-DECISION ACTIVITY... doesn't make much sense for N400-ers.

Yes, they prefer the IRS transcripts over the copies (even if certified).

Sorry, didn't meant to put a "?" after my "Thanks". I am grateful.

I'm on the phone waiting for the IRS to pick up.
