Hi, I have a question, which I am sure has been answered on this forum many times, but I just can not find any info on it. I would really appreciate any input.

Can anybody please explain in detail what happens after the case is received at NVC? (I am sponsoring my mom). Am I supposed to call NVC to get a case number or just wait for them to mail me package with information? What forms do I need to mail/e-mail them?

Yes, AOS I-864 for each parent. Now, you will have to wait for the NVC number and Invoice Identification number to be assigned, before you can do anything else, it takes 2-8 weeks. You can start call

The petitions for parents are separate, though, and only one parent is listed on each petition. My guess would be multiple persons applies to the beneficiary with dependents, i.e. IR-1/2 or K-3/4. AO

Administrative Processing - it's when they look into your case more. It can cause your case to be delayed for months.

1 week or so after your case is approved, start calling NVC to get ur case #, once that is given to you, have ur parent sign d agent form appointing you as their agent and scan to NVC, they shd email you on receipt and acceptance of the form, NVc will give you IIN # with which you are able to log into the payment portal and pay the IV and AOS fees. you dnt have to wait for NVC to send you d forms my ail. once your payment status shows paid, you send your DS 230 and AOS forms after you must have gathered the other required documents from your parent.

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately they didn't get the interview done thanks some a mixup by the security people at the embassy. My parents and a few others were sent to the wrong line (visitor visa interviews) and ended up not being able interview. Now they have to reschedule.

This is really disappointing, they have sent the email to the embassy to reschedule. Does anyone know how long a reschedule takes and how soon? Will it be another 2 months before they can interview. Really changes holiday plans.

my mom was late for her interview and was rescheduled. She got a date for one month after. it depends also on the availability at the embassy. end of year is peak travel time for most people

I haven't gotten the mail as yet. I just check USCIS page and the final decision is that they mailed off a denial letter. In the mean time I'm preparing another packet. Just waiting to see what mistake I made on the first one.

the birth certificate is very important at the USCIS stage. it is used to prove eligibility. I have two friends who were denied just because ethey forgot to include their birth cerificates. now a birth certificate without the beneficiary's name is the same as no birth certificate. i would suggest your try to get another BC with his name anx your mother's name included. and just have an affidavit sworn to the genuinity just in case they wonder.

I sent my mother an envelope with everything I sent to NVC jus in case. She told me they didnt ask her for anyhing. Good luck!
