the sooner you have the IV documents that you need to send, the better. i waited last minute. the only thing i am waiting for is the UK police certificate that my mum has to send me, i already have the rest of the original docs that I will submit later this month.

She will be picking up her Police Cert on 04/15/2014 and her updated birth cert on 05/05/2014. I read they would not accept the old birth certs so I had her apply for the new one. I have been starting to get all documents together for the AOS and she is getting stuff together for the IV package. As soon as she has all the documents ready I will have her FEDEX them to me and I will send them to NVC. I got an early start on everything so hopefully i'll be ready when the time comes. With NVC's current pace I should be fine though. I'm still waiting for my case number since they only received my case on 03/25/2014.

very good.

are for you get ready for the AOS support documents, my income was over the limit so i only used my income on the I-864 form and submitted it with the AOS bar coded sheet, available after I had paid the $88 AOS fee, along with a couple of weeks pay stubs and 2011, 2012, 2013 tax returns.

Thank you for your reply!

On the http://travel.state.gov/ it states that "All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations and submitted to the NVC." Do I still make a translation of each document?

I do not trust postal service in Ukraine by any means but I need to get the originals from my parents somehow... Any thoughts? It still scares me that the originals need to be submitted...

Yes, you still need the translations. Especially for the Russian papers, since your family is in Ukraine.

I had my mom's documents sent via DHL to me. They were delivered after 3 days. I mailed them via FedEx to NVC.

I'm gonna go ahead and update and mark the interview off, since it was passed successfully and my mom's visa is approved. They just won't return her passport until they have the amended police certificate. Unfortunately, this is going to take at least 5-6 weeks, since there are 10 days of holidays in the beginning of May and no officials will be working. So the earliest my mom is gonna get it will be mid-May. Then it will have to be delivered to the consulate, most likely in person, and that's an extra trip to Moscow... So I do not really expect her to have her visa in hand before June. But it will be nice if she does. She needs time to settle some of her affairs anyway and would not be flying immediately even if she had her visa now. Besides, we have to apply for my 7-year-old brother's B visa before she flies, so he can possibly come with her. The original plan was for her to leave him with his sitter for a week, fly in, get her passport stamped, send his I-130 off, apply for a reentry permit and go back to Russia, but recently my husband was diagnosed with a very grave illness and is undergoing aggressive treatment that will most likely last for another year, so I cannot let my mom go, I need help. We have a letter from my husband's doctors asking the consulate to approve my brother's visa on humanitarian grounds. Hopefully that helps.

very good.

are for you get ready for the AOS support documents, my income was over the limit so i only used my income on the I-864 form and submitted it with the AOS bar coded sheet, available after I had paid the $88 AOS fee, along with a couple of weeks pay stubs and 2011, 2012, 2013 tax returns.

I pretty much have all AOS docs ready. My income is over the limit as well so i don't need to use a joint sponsor. I have all three years tax returns and W2s, pay stubs and job letter. Another question now that you brought up I-864..can i use I-864EZ when the time comes?

good question., i have no idea lol.. i just used the I-864; delivered March 20 and so far no AOS checklist. I hope i filled the form out correctly.

I know you can use the EZ form for those who do not require a second sponsor like we do....

Maybe i'm safer using the I-864. I would hate to use the EZ and mess up.

Filled out the DS-260 for my Dad yesterday and now we wait! According to USPS, the civil docs arrived yesterday at the NVC. I'm praying for no checklist on the IV packet. I'll kick myself if we do after getting through the tougher AOS packet acceptance.

Can't wait to hear those magic words of "Case complete".

Now what to do with all the free time I now have with not having to fill in applications and get documentation together

If you don't have a joint sponsor, you can use the I-864 EZ. I just went with the I-864 though to be safe. Its actually not a difficult form to fill in once you have all of your information together from your tax returns.

Mom passed the interview... The consul only asked her two questions:

1. Who is your petitioner?

2. how often do you talk with your daughter?

..then babam! Stamped and she was told to go ahead and confirm the delivery shipping address of her visa at window 39(?)!

THANK YOU Jesus!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH MY DEAREST VJ FRIENDS WHO HAD HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY IN THIS LONG AND WINDING JOURNEY! It would have been a lot harder without y'all guidance in the entire time! Im wishing everyone to have a smooth and speedy process from here on out!

Mega congrats to your mom!!!

do you get some sort of notification to see if AOS documents were accepted by NVC? it's been 2 weeks since i sent them, not sure when they typically send out a checklist for it???

Yes, you still need the translations. Especially for the Russian papers, since your family is in Ukraine.

I had my mom's documents sent via DHL to me. They were delivered after 3 days. I mailed them via FedEx to NVC.

Thank you for all your help! Hope you could help me with some more questions...Did you do the translation yourself or did you send it to be translated and certified? How to translate the police records? I remember you mentioned I could do it all myself but how do I certify/notarize it? And do I need to send military records? Thanks again

Thank you for all your help! Hope you could help me with some more questions...Did you do the translation yourself or did you send it to be translated and certified? How to translate the police records? I remember you mentioned I could do it all myself but how do I certify/notarize it? And do I need to send military records? Thanks again

I translated and certified them myself. You just have to attach a separate sheet to the translation with your name, address, phone number and email on it, and the words "I, Jane Smith, certify that I am fluent in both English and Russian/Ukrainian languages, and the attached translation is an accurate and full translation of the document entitled Birth certificate/ marriage certificate (or whatever document it is)". Then date and sign it. Do one for each translation.

Here's a sample of a Russian police clearance translation (and several other documents):

Military records are required for men 18-27, IIRC. Not sure, though, on this one.

Thanks a lot again! Sorry for a stupid question, but did you put your own name and address and email on the translation? They didn't have any questions?

Of course i did. I even signed the translations with my own name:) Why would they have questions? I have been doing that for 10 years now, did it multiple times.
