Do we have to fill out the AOS form online in the PDF format or can I just print them and fill out? The reason being, my dad's address is long and it won't fit in the actual box. Please advise... Greatly appreciated!

No, you don't wait for them to call you. They will never call you with your case number. It is your responsibility to call them. It is taking approx. 30 business days before they get you in the system with a case number from the time that they receive your file at the NVC.

You can email or call them to correct this. Do it as soon as possible. Certainly before you mail off the document packets.

"The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General has accepted this case for expedited processing. This file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions concerning processing or the interview appointment date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General."

Are they going to give me the interview schedule, or I have to schedule it myself?

Hello All,

I know this might not be the appropriate forum to ask this question, but i assume that since our family members we are petitioning for will become permanent residents first, so i can ask for your opinions/ reponses.

When a father or mother becomes permanent resident, how long will the process take to bring her unmarried children (male/female) over 21 years old.

Does the persons country of origin play any part in delaying/expediting or moving the process in a normal way. what is the average processing time for this type of petition based on past experiences and current timeline.

How long can our parents stay here in US (After becoming permanent resident) before going to visit home temporarily (if they choose to); how long are they expected to spend outside and come back to US.

When they finally settle down here, are there other processes to go through again?

That's what I got with my mom's case. Case complete 02/24/14, mailed 02/26/14 embassy received case 02/28/14. The embassy called her (03/04/14) to give her a date. They told her they will send her the interview letter ASAP so she can do her medical.

So I believe they will be calling your mom to give her the interview date.

There is another forum that caters to permanent residents bringing family members to the US. That forum should have ample information and help from others going through the same process. Yes, my MIL will be filing for her daughter when she settles in. However her daughter is only 17 so she's under age and that I know takes about a year. 21 and older takes about 10 years from what I've read. I believe when your mother become a USC during that time then the petition may go a little faster.
