This is a tricky one but from what I understand you do NOT list the other parent on the I-864, as they have a separate I-864. This info was given to me by folks who just immigrated and are on this forum and their daughter initially put down both parents and got a checklist to correct it.. I am not listing my parents on the same I-864. Also be careful when calculating your household size. If you currently have a family of 4 for example, plus one parent, you would enter a total of 5, rather than calculating in each parent to make a family of 6. The reason being is because each parent gets a separate I-864.

on your example in red, does that mean i will only have 6 household? I-864 for dad household would be me, spouse, 3kids, and dad = 6. I-864 for mom household would be 6 too (me, spouse, 3kids, and mom = 6)?

Yes, AOS I-864 for each parent. Now, you will have to wait for the NVC number and Invoice Identification number to be assigned, before you can do anything else, it takes 2-8 weeks. You can start call

The petitions for parents are separate, though, and only one parent is listed on each petition. My guess would be multiple persons applies to the beneficiary with dependents, i.e. IR-1/2 or K-3/4. AO

I-130 for both parents

March 28th 2013 - Priority date/ NOA 1
November 14th 2013 - Transferred to Nebraska Service Center

January 7th 2014 - Case changed online to approved for both

January 8th 2014 - case changed to shipped to NVC

January 9th 2014 - case changed to NOA 2 mailed

January 10th 2014 - Received the hardcopy of the NOA 2 stating that NVC would issue a case number in 30 days approx.

January 21st 2014 - Case Received at NVC

February 26th 2014 - Case numbers and IIN number received - Wrong embassy code assigned...now waiting for new case numbers.

March 3rd 2014 - Filled in DS-261 for both parents

March 5th 2014- AOS available, paid and submitted AOS packet.

March 6th 2014 - USPS shows packet was delivered at NVC

March 10th 2014 - AOS shows as paid in the CEAC portal/AOS logged into system as being received by NVC.

March 11th 2014 - New case number assigned for my Dad.

March 20th 2014 - Paid IV fee for my Mum.

March 25th 2014 - AOS accepted by NVC with no checklist.

March 26th 2014 - Filled in and submitted DS-260 for my Mum

March 31st 2014 - AOS found in my Mum's file for my Dad - accepted and placed into his file/IV fee available for my Dad and Paid.

April 1st - Mailed all civil documents to NVC for both parents.

April 3rd: IV fee shows as paid in portal/submitted DS-260 for my Dad.

April 22nd: checklist issued for civil documents - NVC error ...

April 23rd: sent another certified copy of my marriage certificate

April 24th: Case complete! :)

April 30th 2014 - Medical scheduled for parents at Knightsbridge in London

June 11th: Interview at London Embassy - Approved :)

What about:

Part 3. Information on the Immigrant(s) You Are Sponsoring,

1. I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2

2. I am sponsoring the following family members immigrating at the same time or within 6 months of the principal immigrant named in Part 2. Do not include any relative on a separate visa petition. <== this is confusing lol

Does this mean i only check #1 instead of #2?

yes they are just looking for box 1 of part 3 to be checked and nothing else. It seems contradictory but then again its USCIS and nothing that they do makes sense.

Part 6 Q5: My current individual income

We file joint return. For Part 6 Q5, i would just use my W2 number? and Person 1 on Q6a would be my husband income from his W2? Since my income does not meet the Guideline. My husband will file I-864A.

For part 6, qu 5, that is your current gross income that you make at your current place of employment. To provide supporting evidence of this, you could ask your employer to write you a letter. This is what I am doing for extra back-up even though I am well above the poverty guidelines. The same will apply for your husband's income and a letter from his employer stating his gross salary per annum would be a good thing to put in the packet.

Please check in to this one more time because I think you have to say 7 eventhough you have 2 seprate I 864. You do list a person who is comming with your father (ie your mother) and visa versa.

Hello everyone,

Question for those who have received their case numbers from NVC recently.

I understand that calling frequently keeps us updated...however I want to know if they actually notified you once your case # has been created.

Were you notified via email on record ? Txt ? USPS mail ?

Please let me know even if you did inquire via phone , I still would like to know if there is a notification process from them....advising case is in house .

Ok, Here we go.. Got a RFE. My dad lived for a year in Austria, so they are asking for a police report from Austria.. which is super difficult to get. Well, now to try to achieve the impossible.. =(

Does your dad know someone in Austria? The best thing at this point is to go online and check their PCC procedure...u never know, it may be easier than you think. If he was there on job purpose, it should be easier.

yes they are just looking for box 1 of part 3 to be checked and nothing else. It seems contradictory but then again its USCIS and nothing that they do makes sense.

Yeah this does look very confusing. I filed for my parents and off course separate i-130 petitions and so 2 separate visa petitions but both will be migrating to US at the same time. On one hand it says not to include any relative on separate visa petition and then on the other hand the instructions clearly says that

" ...... if the immigrant maybe bringing a spouse and/or children , or within 6 months of the immigrant's entry to the United States and you are sponsoring them, you should list the names and other requested information to the lines provide"

I would very much like to assume that my mother would be my dad's spouse or vice versa .... lol.

04/19/2013: NOA1 for both parents
04/17/2013: PD
11/26/2013: Transferred to California Service Center

01/14/2014: Reply to RFE Received by CSC

01/28/2014: Email Update/Txt Received for Approval

02/01/2014: Approval Notice received in Mail

I-130 for both parents:
USCIS Journey (9 months NOA2)
05/13/2013 Sent, 05/17/2013 NOA1
12/16/2013 Cases transferred from NBC to NSC
02/18/2014 NOA2 Hardcopy, 02/20/2014 USCIS sent to DoS
NVC Journey: NVC Process (4 months from NOA2 - case completed)
04/04/2014 Call NVC and got both parents case # and IIN #
04/07/2014 Complete DS-261 for both parents (Choice of Agent), Got email from NVC to pay Affidavit of Support (AOS), AOS Paid online, $88 fee
04/09/2014 IV Paid online, $460 fee both parents
04/12/2014 Complete DS-260 for both parents
04/16/2014 Express Mail AOS and IV Package (mail all these in one envelope)
05/07/2014 Both parents AOS approved
05/19/2014 Both parents IV get a checklist (need certified birth cert, marriage cert, and petitioner certified marriage cert)

Now that the approved cases shipped to DoS on 2/20/14, when should I call DoS/NVC if they receive the documents? If they received, is that the time i should ask about case # and IIN?
