I received another checklist asking me to send original or certified copy of my marriage certificate. I got confused because I thought I have the original copy of my marriage certificate so I made a copy of it and certified by an attorney. So I looked it up online and learned that my marriage certificate is all ready a certified copy, not the original, so that means I have to order more certified copies, like the one I have with me, right?

I think that you are good then. The one I sent technically is the certified copy of the "certified copy" of my marriage certificate because I thought that the one I have here is the original. Unfortunately, it is the certified copy of the original, and the original is at the Department of Health. I just researched it, and it will take 10 working days to receive the copy, oh well.

I got extra copies a few months ago just so I could send them originals. I didn't want to bother getting certified copies since I don't even know how to go about getting those.

10 days isn't bad though.

So, the one the judge gives you at the courthouse is not original? I sent to NVC the one the judge signed and the only one I have.

We have a lawyer friend who certified it for me. You should be able to research it online, there's an option on how to order a copy of certified of marriage certificate online, just an extra fee and extra days but I suggest you better check it out while you are waiting because it might take awhile to give you a copy.

I really thought about it of what did I really miss because I had that confidence to send the "certified copy" but then I checked my marriage certificate, there's a "stamp in the back, "Original seen: Date: Certified by_______". Then I realized that I must have sent my original to the NVC long time ago when I applied for my greencard.

The good news is I got the real certified copies today . I thought that it will take 10 working days to receive a copy because that's what the website says but they handed my copies few minutes later after everything is processed.

Help: My friend's mom just fail her interview. They said her birth cretifcate name had one letter wrong from the application so they fail her. What should my friend do next for his mom? thx

Oh no! My moms name too is names B instead of V but on her birth certificate has a note certifying that it was their mistake and the office was burnt from yrs ago.

That's interesting, I wonder why they didn't do the correction for the very beginning. We made corrections with my parents's marriage certificate because it has misspelled names of my dad, before we file the petition. There should be instructions from your friends' embassy of what to do, like probably submit a birth certificate with the right name?

As long as it is in the yellow NSO paper, I think we are good to go, I really hope so. My parents' marriage cert has correction noted in their NSO marriage cert.

I am thinking of having mom do "ADVANCE MEDICAL" now. Should I wait or what?

I am still waiting for mom's civil documents that she mailed 3 days ago via LBC.

Any suggestions will help.

Judging from the timelines here and experience, I'd say a month from NVC receiving all the papers to case complete, and then however long it takes for the documents to get to the consulate (a couple of weeks?). Looks like the interviews generally happen approximately 3 months from NVC receiving the documents.

I'm going to wait until we know the interview date and then make an appointment for medical for my mom.
