Hey,

I was looking at the snapshot of DS 260 and at the end the end it says that "Did anyone assist you in filling you tis form?" what did you answer to that? Since I am going to fill those out for my parents b/c of language barrier, should I put my name at the end. I am also going to be their agent.

Please share your responses. Thank you in advance.

I did fill it out with my name. Better safe than sorry. you know they have "ways" to know things they want to know.

True, also one of the previous questions asks that " Do you speak any language other than your native language?" The answer to which is "no."

Most (if not all) of us do it for our parents for one reason or another. Yes, you have to put your info as the person who prepared the form.

Well, my IV package is off and should be at NVC Monday morning. Now we wait. Hopefully not as long this time!

Well if they told you to use that, you're probably fine. Is that number different form total gross?

The instructions are very clear on that though:

For purposes of this affidavit, the line for gross (total) income on IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered when

determining income. For persons filing IRS Form 1040 EZ, the line for adjusted gross income will be considered

For 2011 and 2012 both lines are the same line 22 (total income) and line 37 (adjusted gross income) but 2013 is different.

Hi. Can I anyone let me know as to how long it takes for the file to actually transfer from USCIS to NVC? I mean how long should I wait before I start calling NVC to get the new case number? Thank you.

I got my case number after about 7 weeks. Start calling after a month from the date of transfer and you will at least know whether NVC received it or not.

hmmmm ok. Sounds good. Thanks. I guess I will give them 2 weeks for them to receive my file and then 2 weeks or so to give me the case numbers.

NVC received my case 13 days after uscis shipped it. I've been calling 3x weekly and predict that it will be about a month from receiving it that I'll get my case number. Looks like its taking about 20 business days from the time they receive it.

If you're sending transcripts that you got form IRS directly, you don't need W2s. If you're sending photocopies, like you file online and print them out, then you do. I believe you need to send 1099s either way.

You need the Police Clearance if your parent/s had lived in another country.

My family doesn't have them at all. Those are itemized deductions IIRC, and we file standard. So not everyone has them.
