Hi everyone,

I'm a U.S. citizen currently visiting my Belarussian wife in Minsk. I was searching a way to get a visa for her to come to U.S within the next months. I found out that the K-3 or any other immigrant visas would take such a long time. At this point, I'm open to any other non-immigrant visa suggestions like student or tourist ones.. Anybody have had any experience regarding this??

Thank you..

You didn't give a lot of information but I will assume you want to bring her to the US permanently. She will need a CR-1 visa which, as you know, will take more than a few months.

Very doubtful she could get a tourist visa since being married to you she would be assumed to have immigrant intent.

You said you are interested in non-immigrant visas so you do not plan on moving her to the US? More information please.

Hi there, sorry could not see your name.

Well, first of all thank you for your response. Help from more experienced people means a lot to me. I am a naturalized American which I also carry my Turkish citizenship as well. Yes, I did look into the CR-1 indeed. But it looks like it will take 8 months for her to be able to come to U.S.

About moving, yes I really want her to be able to come and live with me. This is what I want most but since the immigrant type of visas take a long time, I was interested in the non-immigrant types for starters.. And you are right that they will think that she has the intention of staying with the tourist visa. No doubt about that..

You have the option of the K-3 which is a non-immigrant visa or CR-1. As mentioned above, being that she is married to a US citizen the consulate will assume she has immigrant intent and deny any visa which they see as an attempt to avoid the immigration process, which is exactly what you are proposing. That would not only get her denied but could result in a ban to any future visas.

You are bringing a spouse to the USA to live with you. The correct visas are the CR-1 and K-3. I do not know is K-3s are still being issued at all, I had heard they were phased out in favor of the CR-1.

The fastest is probably a direct consulate file I-130 petition for an immigrant visa submitted to either the US Embassy in Minsk or the US Embassy in Warsaw.

From the Minsk website: Petitioners who do not have a residence in the U.S. should contact the embassy at ConsularMinsk@state.gov for guidance.

YMMV

It doesn't seem like the OP lives in Belarus.

Thank you all sooooo much with your insightful information regarding the applications. At this point, i will be concentrating on an immigrant visa even though it will be pretty long to see my wife in U.S.

You all have good luck with your applications and hope 2011 will be a much better for you all.

Regards..

Eekee hi,

Sorry about the ignorance but who would the OP be? I'm the American citizen filing for the papers. My wife is Belarussian, residing in Minsk...

Thanks

As others have mentioned the best route is the CR1 , just file the I130 when you get back to the states. Take a look at the forums and get whatever paperwork signed now before you leave. After NVC she will interview and process at Warsaw as Belarus no longer does Immigrant VISA processing. Yes it will take a bit longer but you will be wasting time and money trying to get any other type of VISA for her since you are already married.

Say hello to Lukashenko for me ;)

Doing as the prior poster states means lying to immigration officers and that is likely to result in a lifetime ban. It is also against the TOS to have recommended it even with saying not to do that.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I didn't condone or instruct, I blatantly said "DO NOT DO THIS."

I never got to see slim's post so I can't say much. Charles though is about the most easy going of the mods on here imo...and as far as I know him and slim seem to get along pretty decent. I'm sure it's all a misunderstanding. :hehe:

The bigger question remains...why is someone that is trying to immigrate to Nigeria trolling the RUB forum ? Better yet why is this person that is trying to immigrate to Nigeria on this site in the first place ? This site is for people trying to immigrate to the USA, not Nigeria. This forum seems to attract trolls from not only other regional forums, but from trolls trying to immigrate outside the US...that's like totally weird imo.
