By no means am I suggesting to always use the AVR in every circumstance. I understand the value of talking to an operator...when it makes sense...and in your case, if you've never been entered into the AVR, you're right, you would need to talk to an operator everytime. Also, in my case, my AVR message now states that the DS-230 has been received, but the AOS has not. This prompted an immediate call to an operator, since I sent in the AOS a full week before the DS-230...and the operator was able to confirm for me that both pieces were received. However, if everyone used the operator option everytime they called, the hotline would be even more difficult to get through than it is now...I don't see the harm in first using the AVR, then, if things don't seem right, ask an operator.

yes defnitely use the avr.. which I think works for almost everyone ..and is actually less time consuming...plus I think they keep track of how many times you call and talk to the operator.. so ya I agree with you to use the avr..unless you are one of those unlucky few who have to call the operator to know the status every time.. Personally I really wish I could just call the avr system and get updates. :(

AVR said missing document but when I inquired the operator, the RFE was about our co-sponsor's I-864. One of his entries didn't match his W-2. Have to wait for the RFE email. *sigh*

Well, I called NVC hoping for an interview date...still nothing! However, on the bright side, I talked to a really nice operator who told me that since they missed a day on Wednesday, they have not yet completed scheduling for the month of February. She said they'll keep working on it on Tuesday, and keep going until all of the February slots at each consulate fill up.

Yeah, I know they schedule all month...but this still made me feel good :-).

Sorry to hear about the RFE art. That is too bad! I hope that you are able to get that issue resolved quickly :star:

Yeah...winter is a crummy time to be stuck at the NVC due to snow and then holidays come up that we all used to know and love but now dread :P Luckily...MLK Jr Day is the last holiday in Jan so NVC should become more productive after that for a bit :P

Too bad we can't just sleep through the NVC process and wake up with all of the bills paid and everything done and well rested.. Maye some day :P

Thanks TeyaValentina!

It's a little bit upsetting, but we'll make trough it! I wish we'll all love the holidays and days off in near future! :star:

Angeli- Oh man! I got hit with that RFE for myself. I hope yours isn't as stupid as mine was $1 off exactly. Sigh. Hopefully they will e-mail you soon with the RFE info. Of course, you could always have the sponsor's I-864 redone and use the AOS coversheet from the payment portal to send in with the correction to the form (as long as that is all that is missing). Or you could wait. Depending on if you have all of the info for your sponsor, it might just be easier to wait for the RFE but have your sponsor prep the papers in the mean time :)

Rie- Yeah it is ok to send them together. Of course it would be too late now to change it. I hope they were clearly separated packets of information so that the wonderful people at the NVC don't get confused :D

skynaut- You have picked a great group to join!

Thank you so much Tey. My RFE was about my brother/co-sponsor's I-864 part 25. He rounded the numbers to the nearest thousand instead of giving the exact total of his income. He has two jobs. I never thought they would scrutinize that. But considering that I-864 is a legal paper, I would understand. I'll call again to see if that's the only discrepancy. If it is then I'd take your advice. Thanks again Tey! :)

Thank you so much guys! :) I am glad to be here!! I have read all this thread starting page 1, I see some of you really fly fast thru NVC! Congratulations for all those who got SIF and CC [took me time to find out what CC means LOL :D ]

So, although we are just starting with NVC, I have some question that I haven't found answer yet.

I read Loto's guide for NVC and everything seems clear but I would like to know the following:

Could someone please list steps how things are going after CC? Who schedules the interview date? Is it NVC or is it Consulate? How do I find out the interview date and when I find it out, what do I do next?

Thank you so much in advance for your replies and good luck to all of you with NVC and interviews ;)

After NVC completed your case, you will be notified by Email your interview date and other informations that have to bring at interview time. NVC schedule most country's interview date, Some consular does schedule the interview date if the case expedited or if you're from Canada, china or England.

The fastest way to get to know is call DOS number: 202-663-1225, press 1, then 0, Talk to live person, they will give you an advance notification on your interview date :star:
