HI!

I have recently received my K1 visa and am getting married on October 21 - yeay!!

I have read the AOS guide but just wanted to check I was understanding right......

1. It seems like the only 'new' bits of information to collect are marriage certificate, an updated affidavit of support and photos.

2, Then there are a few forms to fill out (inclusing the EAD and advance parole request) - I imagaine asap after the wedding - and a medical and a biometrics interview to attend.

Is that it?

For those of you who have been through K1 application - is this part any easier/ less time consuming? I hope so!!!

Maggie

hey Maggie,

Congratulations on the coming wedding!

If I not mistaken, you actually do not need to have your medical done again since you came here as a fiancee!

But, in case you're required, and want to fill out all the forms ASAP, I would advise you to have your AIDS test done prior the other stuff. From my experience, it takes abt two weeks to receive you test results for AIDS and syphilis and also some time to get your medical appointment as well, cuz you are dealing with governmental clinic which is a pain in the neck!

have a good day,

We just sent in my AOS/EAD two days ago so I kinda have this fresh in my head.

Make sure you bring the form that the doctor gave you regarding what shots you got back home for the K-1 Visa or bring evidence that you recieved the shots. You can take that info to one of the approved doctors and they can transfer the info to the I-693 suppliment form so that you don't need a complete medical. I was charged only $10.00 to get this info transfered but I have read people being charged up to $50.00 for this.

It seems to me more forms to fill out this time but I might have blocked in my mind what we had to do for the K-1 Visa. Your SO will need 2005 tax return with the W2 and 1099 or whatever it is called. So if you don't have that you could start collecting that.

Ohh and it costs alot more $$$ this time around. I think the I-693 suppliment was the biggest delay because once I found the right doctor I had to drive an hour to get it sorted out only to have grief explaining what I needed. Eventually I got it sorted out and walked out with a sealed envelope.

K-1 VISA

I-751
09-23-08 - Sent Package via USPS (Day 1)

Those should tell you just about everything you need and before you ask the 8 digit number in red in the bottom right of the visa is the nonimmigrant visa number, the 11 digit number near the top left of the I-94 number and the A# should be written on the back of the I-94 and printed on the petition approval notice.
