I am a USC and I am in the process of bringing my parents to the states. Does anybody know once they got their green card, do they need to enter the states right away, or is there a timeframe before they have to enter? If so, how long? Thanks!

They would get green-card AFTER they enter the USA not before..

They will be issued an IR-5 visa the visa tends to be valid 90 days.. They can always make a trip down here get I-551 stamp and then return to Canada for a few months to get their affairs in order.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Hi Yu&Dan, thanks for the info! Nice to see you again. I remember seeing you when I was applying for spouse visa many years ago!

The US Embassy/Consulate issues immigration visas. They do not issue green cards. A green card is granted when a person enters the US on an immigration visa.

An immigration visa is generally good for six months. An immigration visa will have an expiration date. The immigrant must enter the US before the expiration date or the visa will be void.
