what is a touch?

K1 Application

23 Feb 2006 - I-129 mailed

14 August 2006 - Approved!!!! :-)

21 October 2006 - Married in the mountains of North Carolina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AOS Application

6 November 2006 - Applied for AOS, EAD and AP

09 Decemeber 2006 - e-mail received to say case was trasferred to California

16 December 2006- biometric appointment in Charlotte, NC

20 Jan 2007 -AP approved

24 Jan -EAD approved

28 June -Green card ordered

7 July wedding celebrations in Scotland

On your online status...when the date changes that is referred to as a 'touch'. Its when they have done something with your petition, and that could be anything from actually doing something positive with your case.......to just responding to an email to enquire about case status.

It means someone at the service center did 'something' with your file and made a note they handled (touched) it. Could be in response to an enquiry mail from yourself, or they actually worked on it in some way :)

Some people have no touches logged between NOA1 and 2 btw - so dont panic if you get NOA1 then see no updates of 'touches'

Applied for K1

Met online 2001 - just aquaintances

Sept 2002 - 1st US visit - everything goes perfectly.

Dec 20th - Forms recev'd at CSC

Dec 27th - NOA1 received by snail mail!

Dec 29th - 'Touched'

March 10 2006 - NOA2!

March 23 - recv'd at NVC

March 24 - petition sent to London

April 9th - Pkt 3 rec'd!

May 17th - Pkt 3 signed for at London Embassy

May 24th - Medical

May24th - Pkt 4

June 14th - Interview 10am - APPROVED 1pm!!

June 16th - Visas received in my hot little hands 1pm :)

July 19th - flying to US!

July 27th - Married!! :-)

Aug 7th - Applied for SSN in married name

Aug 9th - SSN received

had a crazy week and only just getting to see your replies now..... only now I have more questions - what do you mean 'on line status'? Is there somewhere I can check on line what my status is? I presume that is after they have seen our case and sent an proof of recipt?

go here to register as a customer: USCIS STATUS ONLINE

This is where you will see when you are touched and if any updates happen to your case, you can also have them email you with any updates.
