Hello vj community!

Well I am up to the medical exam part of my application but I have a problem. I saw my gp and he couldn't get my vacination record and told me to get them from the places I had the injections. Probalem is my family moved around a lot when I was a kid and the primary school I went to was shut down years ago. My doctor told me I could get a serilogical blood test to see what I have had, but I don't know if the doctor I see for the exam will accept them.

So I guess to boil it all down, I am asking if anyone has sucessfully passed the med exam with a serilogical blood test? Or is there another way to get my records? I would've though Medicare would have them, but my GP said they wouldn't. :(

Thank you for your time!

Just get your doctor to do the serilogical test and that will show what you have been immunised for and yes the medical exam doctor will accept it. I had to do that and it was no problem at all.

I know exactly where you are coming from...I had similiar issues not on me but for my kids....

Medicare have some innoculations listed...but they are updated once and a while and records only go back as far as 96....or some #######...then you have to apply to the state health department....then each time you apply you have to wait for a pin or something...then I thought I would go to the school and they told me that they are unable to keep health records as they are a school not a medical department...

HOPELESS.....

I think the receptionists at your local GP should be able to obtain your records for you.....or what about the local pharmacy....if they can check on druggies like they do...then why not innoculations records....???

lets hope australia can get this fixed....

Thank you everyone for the help. I am relieved to know that I am not the only person having some difficulties. I think I will go with the serilogical blood test as I found out that the medical centre I went to until the age of 4 was demolished about 10 years ago and I don't know where to go to chase up their records. o_O

And I did see that Medicare has a register for childhhod vaccinations but apparently it is only effective for those people who were vaccinated from 96 onwards as lynJer stated. Thank you though, it was worth checking out online.

Yes, it would be great if they could sort this out, it would make things so much easier.

But again , thank you all so much!
