I made these charts to send to my elected officials. But it put things in perspective for me so well I thought I would share them. These are jpg screen shots of the charts. If anyone wants the original .doc files PM me with your email and I will send them. You will need MS Word to look at the original doc files. Wordpad makes them look jumbled.

I filtered the list to show only K-1 petitions submitted to or transferred to the CSC with dates starting March 6 (the day IMBRA went into effect and everything seemed to fall apart) to the last petition approved for a June NOA1 date. It is sorted by NOA1 dates from earliest to latest. I also included the total number of days it took for approved petitions. Here is the breakdown of the approved vs waiting petitons. As you can see it is pretty close to random.

March:..........81 total petitions...........47 approved...........34 waiting

April:............60 total petitions...........37 approved...........23 waiting

May:.............62 total petitions...........32 approved...........30 waiting

June:............26 total petitions...........13 approved...........13 waiting

You need to download the pictures to your computer and view them at 100% or you can't read them. Just clicking on the link gives me a crappy view in a browser. For those less computer savy here is how you do it.

Right click on the link, choose "save Target as" and pick a spot on your computer to save. Then open with your favorite picture viewer! If things look blurry make sure you are viewing at 100%.

I would have posted the pictures in a post but they take up a lot of real estate. So here are the links.

Enjoy!!

Ok, you can look at the pics in your browser. With IE 6 anyway if you just click on the link it makes it fit to the screen. I can't read it that way. But at least in my browser, if you click on the pic in your browser a button comes on in the lower right of the chart. Clicking on that makes it go full screen and then it looks clear.

Thats because you are still listed on the timeline as being from the TSC. I filtered the chart for only timelines reprted as from CSC. A flaw in the system I guess. Only those that list their service center on their timelines as CSC will be on this list.

...and here I thought it was pretty quick for Sian and I.... 94 days. Then I see someone from Iraq was approved in 45 days, Morocco in 50 days, Russia in 40 days..... Unbelievable. I'm sorry, but I cannot possibly fathom their logic behind approving all of these (including Sian and I) before the people who applied in March.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Hey GaryC...

This is a pretty damning view of the whole USCIS system. Even though I have been approved I'd like to send it to my elected officials. I'm having a little problem getting every thing to view properly. I am trying to compose GOOD strongly worded letter to send to them, Does anyone have any ideas on where to begin? When this whole IMBRA thing began I did send them a letter and they responded with appropriate noise so I'd like to email them again just to help light some kind of fire. Maybe if they heard from a lot of us they will take some notice.

The chart hits you right in the nose doesn't it! I guess I am back to feeling sorry for myself again! :P

I was just trying to make some ammunition for myself when dealing with my congressmen. Opened my eyes to the randomness of the whole thing!!

Great report Gary.

My online status was dated 20 March, stating I-129F package was received 15 March. Dumb question - does that make my NOA1 date 15th or 20th of March??

What does it really matter huh?!...160, 165 days who cares by now, but I'm curious.

I'm starting to feel like I'm being punished by a higher power (higher than the US Govt!). I suspect I am going to be THE last IMBRA casualty to be approved!!!

You can add us to this also. NOA 1 date was 4/4/04 originally at NSC, now of course at CSC. I am considering sending you the case number also, then if we had that when we say we see people getting approved, we coudl even provide more information. I don't see the harm in that.

Thanks so much, Gary, for doing this! I've really been in the dark about it - just trying to add up the numbers in my head. It's depressing now to see that only half of the petitions in March have been approved, but it makes me a little more at ease because I haven't even received my IMBRA RFE yet.

I was thinking about the surge we had earlier with approvals followed by the slow trickle and I know this is just speculation, but... perhaps being the last month of summer, many employees at CSC took their vacations? Also, as the year progresses, could they possibly be running into budgetary restrictions? It would be awesome if someone here on VJ could find out just how many case workers they have on staff, and how many of them are just contract employees. My hunch is that if they had any legitimate reason why they aren't up to speed yet is because of understaffing from vacations and being underfunded.

Definately NOT underfunded. The received extra money this year to hit their goal of 6 months or less in processing times. ALSO keep in mind they took in 1.3 (?) BILLION dollars in fees. BILLION! For 1 billion, I would run this m***f** and have all applications approved in 4 months or less. Oh ya, and it woudl be mostly automated!

Gary

Thanks so much for posting this. It really gives us some solid data from which we can theorize.

So here are my theories.

My first thought is this. The RFE's de-sorted the applications. And, in order to be fair, applications would have to be resorted. But the powers that be probably rationalized thus: Since there are no doubt a number of early NOA1's who for whatever reason were late getting the RFE back, somebody made a decision that re-sorting would be a logistical nightmare for them. So they decided to let the chips fall where they may (or June, March or April, if you will). (except July and August are put behind in line behind the March through June lump.)

Now, as to why the approvals are slowing. I think I've heard murmerings that the NVC is swamped, so they must have told the Centers to slow down? (Say it ain't so!!)

GOD HELP US ALL!!
