Cell phones have never caused a plane to go down. There is no proof that a cell phone can cause anything other than a compass malfunction on a plane, which should not cause any competent pilot a problem. If cell phones were so dangerous, they would not allow passengers to carry them on board.

I'm never too old to learn; I've observed security measures for 30 years where I work and most of them

have no rhyme or reason. The use of a cell phone as a detonator whould also have to mean that a bomb

was packed on board that totally eluded the security check and in addition the jamming system would have

to fail.

I guess Richard Reid's Shoe was more dangerous than a cell phone.

What jamming system?

What jamming system?

A shielding system for cell-phone interference; I think you were saying they don't exist or are unnecessary.

I don't have your tech expertise, but if one could be used to set off a bomb and wasn't jammed,

I would presume the bomb would go off.

Flying a plane into a building was unheard of before it happened very tragically.

That's why security measures abound that often make no sense regarding the technical aspects.

They assume there will would be work-arounds by the potential bad guys.

I never commented on jamming systems. You're kind of all over the place here. Your last post suggested that airplanes use jamming systems.

Yep it's a crazy world; I used to travel on the train with a high-powered labor lawyer

who used to boast about his antique car collection and how he still thought it was

OK to spank his adult daughter...

Operating a cell phone on a flight does not put passengers and crew at risk.

yup. that's why it's an FCC law.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
