How do we go about finding a joint sponsor for my husband's AOS form if I don't work? We have 3 children and 1 on the way and right now are living in Mexico. My husband has work waiting for him in the US, so financially he's capable of supporting us. Also, before we came here, he had sufficient work and was doing well supporting our family. We cannot go back without him, as it would create an extreme hardship. I would be forced to apply for government help. What do we do if we cannot find a signer?

If petitioner cannot show sufficient support, or liquid assets, the a joint sponsor will be required, if you cannot find a joint sponsor, they they wont issue a visa on the grounds of potentially becoming dependent on government assistance.

Also if US citizen sponsor has been living outside the USA, the US citizen has to show that they maintained a US domicile in order to provide an I-864

What is someone supposed to do. I have absolutely no other family besides my husband and we have 3, soon to be 4 children. Very difficult situation.

Yes, it's difficult. No money, not honey. The US tax payer is not responsible for supporting your choice of mate. If you don't qualify to sponsor them and don't have a close friend or relative capable or willing to do so, you can always chose to be together outside the USA.

No one said that the US taxpayer will be supporting my husband. He has 3 jobs waiting for him in the US, one being a salary position, paying more than $45,000 a year. Unfortunetly, however, the employer will only give him a letter of employment. They are not willing to sign the form. And, we have no plans to stay here. If we go back without my husband, for the time being, I will have to go on government assistance. So, you see, it is much better for my husband to go back with us and pay the bills, than for us to go back alone. I will keep searching, in the meantime for a sponsor. God willing, we will find one.

I mention the US taxpayer BECAUSE that the reason a qualified sponsor is needed. With rare exception, the joint sponsor is somebody who knows at least one member of the couple well enough to be willing to sign a binding contract to reimburse the government, if needed. You'll need to find somebody willing and able to do that, or settle for something less than you desire.

This may be one of those exceptions to the rules, CDJ I have seen does take into account the intending immigrants future employment.

A very high percentage have been working in the US and pop back to fix their papers, so not quite the normal situation elsewhere.

The other option would be for the OP to come back first, get a job so she could be the sponsor.

Presumably it is just for the Husband? The children are USC's.

Are you religious, member of a church?

Other VJ members have found assistance with co-sponsorship through their church & fellow parishioners.

Our family is Christian. We haven't really searched for a church in the US since we've been here. That might be something we should look into. We go to church services here in Mexico right now. Thank you for the suggestion. We're going to keep looking for a sponsor. God willing.
