Question about packets 3 & 4 (k1 visa)

I am trying to get everything squared away for when our NOA2 arrives (which we hope will be soon) and I have a couple of questions I haven't been able to find answers to that I could use your help with.

Dublin embassy has the following forms listed for k1 applicants so I have printed them out and we have nearly completed filling them in.

DS-230 Part 1

DS-230 Part 2

DS-156K

DS-157

Additionally we also have FI's police certificate and the I-134 forms ready to go.

I am a bit embarrassed to say that I am still a little foggy on what gets sent to the embassy before the interview and what we hold on to until the interview. (I would like to be totally clear on this by the time our case reaches the embassy because from what I have heard we don't have to wait to receive packet 3 from them to mail in our forms). So my question is which forms get sent in for packet 3? Do we need to have had his medical before we send in packet 3? and what forms do we send in for packet 4?

Concerning the medical:

A few years ago FI obtained a student visa and went through the same DR that he will be seeing for this visa. Should the DR still have his records on file meaning that we won't have to bring them?

My next questions are about specific forms:

-on DS-230 Part 1, question 30 ("list places below you have lived for at least 6 months since reaching the age of 16")

since it only asks for the city/town name and not the specific address, would list Dublin multiple times since we've lived in several different places in Dublin? Or would I just group them as a whole onto one line?

-on DS-230 Part 1, question 32 ("in what occupation do you intend to work in the US?")

Is this only for if you have a specific job lined up or would my fiance name his general field of work?

-on DS-157 I just realised I have yet again accidentally misspelled my fiance's father's name (it's spelled with just one "n" but I used two "n's"). Should I just cross it out an rewrite it or is this going to cause problems?

Thanks for your help :)

The requirements can vary from one consulate to another, but I'll take a stab at it.

Usually, DS-230 part 1 is sent in response to packet 3. The consulate may also have a form which they often include in the packet that the beneficiary signs and returns indicating they are ready to have the interview scheduled. Packet 4 usually contains instructions for preparing for the interview. No forms are usually returned in response to packet 4. The other forms are usually brought to the interview.

Concerning the medical:

A few years ago FI obtained a student visa and went through the same DR that he will be seeing for this visa. Should the DR still have his records on file meaning that we won't have to bring them?

I wouldn't count on it. They may have forwarded everything they previously had to the consulate.

If the beneficiary lived continuously in the same city, though at different addresses, then only a single entry is required for that period of time.

-on DS-230 Part 1, question 32 ("in what occupation do you intend to work in the US?")

Is this only for if you have a specific job lined up or would my fiance name his general field of work?

General field of work is fine.

-on DS-157 I just realised I have yet again accidentally misspelled my fiance's father's name (it's spelled with just one "n" but I used two "n's"). Should I just cross it out an rewrite it or is this going to cause problems?

You shouldn't make corrections on the forms if you can avoid it, and you should try to get the information correct. Is there any reason you can't just make another one?

Thanks for your help :)

No I was just concerned there might be some confusion since the I-129F packet had his name misspelled. Will they want to see a birth cert. to confirm the correct spelling?

Sorry but I have another question.

For the employment section on the DS-230 Part 1, do I do as we did with the G-235A and put "unemployed" for any gaps in employment?

The beneficiary is almost always required to bring their birth certificate to the interview.

My wife didn't. She had worked one job beginning in 2004 up until she came to the US, and that was the only thing she listed on the DS-230. She didn't list any periods of unemployment. It wasn't a problem at the consulate in her country. I doubt it would be a problem in Ireland.

Thank you!

Haha yeah I meant FI's father's birth certificate, but silly me I forgot that his dad's name is on his own birth certificate which we will definitely be bringing to the embassy.

I seriously doubt they'll care if his dad's name was misspelled. It's not relevant at all for a K1 visa.
