Yes Mew, I am defensive these days. The things that I know to be true, I defend until the end.

I will always defend you, because you understand!! Cheers Mew!!!!

I'll defend you!

I think they went to update their timeline  or touch themselves

 The OP was here just a moment ago.

YES a phone call to the USCUS can and does prompt a touch, that is if you call a touch a update to your online status, that reads in part "We will respond within 30 days to your inquiry, etc etc"

it happens all of the time and is one reason touches are somewhat overstated by the VJ community.

Lets just agree to disagree and congrats to the vermont guy that was approved in 23 days :)

That is not correct. However, if you chose to believe that, up to you mate. Go ahead, take another cheap shot at me. I don't give a sh!t.

That is the truth. Well said ready4ONE. You are well versed here!!!

I know it is too early for me to be a legit complainer... Hope springs eternal that our process won't take too long, but it does appear there is only this one constant... the California service center is slowwwwwwwwwwwww!

Finding out they went backwards in time on current cases being processed leaves me with the urge to :ranting:

To the OP....respectfully I have to disagree with the phone call comment. Early in our K1 petition my mother was dying of cancer. I called the USCIS about our case, to see when it might be approved (she died two weeks after I called). I actually spoke to a human who was caring and sympathetic about our situation. To make a long story short, that call did NOT cause our case to be "touched". I signed up for email notification since I had my case number, which is how I knew there were no touches. Our petition was approved without one single touch.

I hate to say it but it is true...... I had no touches for a long time and I hadn't called USCIS for over a month but after I called to ask about my status a few hours later I was touched and my stutus changed to: On August 23, 2006, we responded to your request for more information concerning you case. If you have not received our response to within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at .........

I have to wonder if anyone actuallly gets a response and I wonder if calling helps because I just checked today and saw I was last touched on Aug 25.

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated as early as September 30, 2000*.

5 years for a NOA1! Is that a record?

Whatever.....

A touch is a touch. It doesn't matter how it was generated, and a TOUCH MEANS NOTHING. So, basically, who gives a flying purple ####### what does or does not constitute a genuine touch according to wwwiiigggiiii?

P.S. Please fix your timeline, as you're screwing up everyone else's estimates.

Well, without starting a heap of further argument. Touches do infer that someone handled your file.

It has been clearly established that many get approved with zero touches.

At the end of the day, I would prefer to get touched, than not at all. That is when people start to fear their case has been lost or fell under a desk. Agreed?

They do, yes. I was saying that, in regards to what is actually happening, - how close you are - they mean nothing. For the reasons you stated. Whining because people are counting touches following phone inquiries is just stupid. In the overall scheme of the visa process, touches are insignificant.
