What? A touch is a touch. period. This means someone has handled your file.

Not suggesting that this is prompted by a call to USCIS, but a touch does infer progress in your case.

Granted, some have not been touched at all, yet received an approval.

Don't make long assumptions that touches are meaningless, that is irresponsible conjecture.

I respectivly disagree. a touch IS NOT a touch. Like I said, If you make a call to the USCIS call center and ask a bunch of questions....then MANY times you will get your case updated within 48 hours and it will say "We will respond to your quetion in 30 days etc etc etc.....)"

I am sorry if you do not believe this. But it is true :)

This is much different than a staffer actually touching your case becaus he is working on it.

Either way, it doesn't matter. Touches are NOT a good indication of actual movement forward in your case. We know this to be true because some people never get touched (and still get approved) while other people get touched 10 days in a row and don't get approved for another 2 months.

Touches indicate, as William explained, that someone has handled your file/looked at it/answered a question/moved a piece of paper/reviewed/relocated/reorganized your file. It doesn't mean anything more than that.

If you call and ask a question and they look at your file and send you a case update, they HAVE TOUCHED your case in response to your call. It does not imply they are working on it in that moment.

Does it really matter if people count phonecalls as touches? I mean your timeline says you waited 5 years for your NOA1, THAT is inaccurate information I would think.

I respect your respective disagreement.

However, you can believe what you will. I never got a touch on the basis of a phone call.

Overall, touched over 16 times. Some don't get touched at all and get approved. I was touched like a doorknob and got an approval.

Things work mysteriously in CSC. Learn that.

Maybe I just like to debate for fun. BUT, if you get a message that says that they responded to your own inquiry, and you have just recently called the USCIS to ask questions, that is not the same as other more meaningful touches. I get your point that a touch is still a touch, I just know from watching for months that their are these type of touches prompted by USCIS phone calls that are not really the th type of touch people think of and shouldnt get any false hope about them.

A call to USCIS does NOT generate a touch to your case. You have been around for a while and should know better. If you don't, learn it now.

Oh, TOUCH you!!

Let's not digress to shallow comments, ok?
