I don't know if anyone can help me. I can't find an answer. I will be sponsoring a young man to come to university, but he would like to be able to work on the school breaks to send money home to his family in Uganda. Is there a visa that would allow for both?

no, he can only have one visa at a time. If he is coming on a student visa, then he must be a full-time student and only work on campus no more than 20 hours a week. so he can work, but on campus.

that's why they require a sponsor, so the student can come to study.

Student visas are for studying, not for working. As the previous poster said, employment is possible but only on campus with the DSO's consent and only for a maximum of 20 hours a week. Any 'under the table' work is a violation of his F-1 status.

If on F-1 it is possible to work during school breaks for more than 20 hours per week, but ONLY on campus. Any other form of work requires CPT or OPT.
