I know what your saying yes there is many different types of muslims.. and when I say you .. I mean the muslim faith .. these countries have these horrible people in them doing horrible acts.. Like I said Pakistan is doing a great job fighting against the people that make them look bad.. but this kind of muslim or that kind its all "technically" the same god. And my understanding is Islam is all about god .. serving god.. .. right?

I apologize because I don't understand the point you are trying to make; however, if it is that because we worship the same God than Christians and Jews are worshipping the same God too.

The problem lies in the ignorance of people. Because there are those extremes, people believe the other 1.3 billion Muslims are just as bad. Muslims speak out ALL THE TIME in many different ways. The only time i've ever seen it on TV was in 2001 after September 11th and they would interview mosque randomly.

There was actual outrage when they bombed the wedding in the hotel in Jordan. Other than that there is usually dancing in the street for such events.

Ok I think it's the responsibility of Islamic countries to repress Muslim whack-jobs (I won't use "extremists" as it implies that they are somehow being faithful to the core values of Islam) but is it the responsibility of every Muslim, even Western ones, to somehow fix that problem? All they have in common is their faith.

So, how about these guys in Somalia? No extremists here? Somalia, as you may be aware, is one of the breeding grounds for what you call whack jobs. Which goes back to my earlier point: The Muslim community does have a responsibility as it is within their midst that these haters are grown and groomed. But at least they started flogging women again in Somalia. Seems that we're on the road to road to recovery as those folks focus more on their faith and the core values. I'd call it violence but that's just me...

Somali woman is flogged for drugs

A Somali woman has been flogged in public for selling cannabis by Islamist militias who now control the capital.

This is the first time a woman has received this kind of punishment since the Union of Islamic Courts seized Mogadishu in June. She got 11 lashes.

Arrested for a small bundle of the drug worth $1, she pleaded innocence while being beaten, AP news agency reports.

Most sellers of the mild narcotic khat, widely used in Somalia, are women but the UIC has not opposed this trade.

The BBC's Hassan Barise in Mogadishu says women often sell khat because during the long civil war, they aroused less suspicion than men when crossing between areas controlled by rival factions.

The UIC was set up two years ago by businessmen who wanted some law and order. Somalia has not had a functioning government since 1991.

Five men were also whipped in Thursday's ceremony, in which the seized drugs were burnt.

This is only the second time that the UIC has carried out a public flogging in Mogadishu.

The UIC is divided between radicals, who want to impose a Taleban-style state in Somalia, and moderates, who say they have no such plans.

It controls much of southern Somalia, while the internationally recognised government remains confined to Baidoa, some 200km to the north of Mogadishu.

East African diplomats have been trying to bring the Islamists and the government together for talks.

Good! she got flogged (if it's true)... it also says men did too for the same crime... not because she was a woman but because she was selling drugs! Maybe if we started flogging the donkeys who sell drugs here they might stop hanging out in front of our elementary schools trying to sell those poisons to our children! 11 lashes... doesn't seem like a lot but if it discourages drug use/sales/trafficking then great!

FYI, you can off as completely racist. First of all, Islam condones women's rights more than any other religious book. Islamic countries who are supressing women are not doing it because it says "SUPPRESS ALL WOMEN!" in the Quran, they're doing it on their own call.

We should continue to "mess with their world" in a positive way, but obviously we aren't doing it all that positive. BY ALLOWING ISRAEL to have nuclear submarines, do you think Muslim countries are going to just stand there? HELL NO!
