That's because the cowards are hiding behind women and children. What do you expect? Let the Hezbo's shoot with impunity without responding? Any civilian deaths are the Hezbo's fault. If they wanted to fight with honor and with the protection of the civilians in mind they wouldn't be firing rockets from back yards and hiding in occupied houses. They WANT civilian deaths so they can parade the bodies around to show how "evil" the Isrealies are. Totally detestable!

Conventional warfare is a luxury for those with the equipment, financing and weapons to take on the opposition directly. Regardless, noone said going to war was some sort of honourable, morally spotless affair.

Just wonder why you're so surprised by the tactics. Given the situation - with one side heavily outgunning the other, that this sort of clandestine activity is not inevitable?

The same.

I just think that Israel weakened its own position by dropping bombs regardless of the resulting civilian death and destruction. Blaming it on Hezbollah is all well and good, but when the deaths get into the 4 figure range you have to start asking questions.

What was the Lebanese army doing?

Staying neutral to avoid plunging an unstable country into renewed civil war.

I guess my point is this, If the Hezbo's really were fighting for the freedom of the muslim people (I really don't know what their motives are) then why put the very people at risk that you are trying to protect? It does not matter who crossed the border first, who fired the first shot, the fact remains that the Hezbo's were doing their best to maximize the civilian deaths to make the IDF look bad. If the Hezbo's wanted to they could have shot their rockets from empty fields. They could have hidden out in all those bunkers they had but they willingly chose to fight among the civilians to get them killed. If the Hezbo's hadn't hidden there the civilian deaths would have been MUCH less.

As I said, Lebanon is a politically unstable country. Hezbollah wouldn't be running things in the south if they didn't have some degree of public backing - and the government turning the regular army on Hezbollah would run the risk of a factional split and a civil war. After the hell that the country has been through over the last 30+ years its not too difficult to understand why they would not want to revisit it.

I'm Muslim and I don't believe Hesbollah is fighting for the freedom of Muslims. It's political plain and simple. Unfortunately some groups put their religion hats on and make the rest of us look bad.
