We are just beginning our emotional roller coaster ride. We were finally able to submit our package :) mailed from New York to Texas, only to find out it has now been mailed to Vermont (7 to 10 days) :(, which seems to have the slowest process times :(

My question is my fiancee and her sister live with her parents. We would like to be able to have her sister come to attend the wedding, but since she does not own a home, or have a job it does not look likely she will qualify. Is there anything we can do to increase her chance of approval since we are processing a K1 also.

Patiently waiting for life to begin

Hi! I'm from Guatemala and I've just made my mind up that the ones that can't get a visa on their own just wont be able to attend my wedding =( . The embassy in Guatemala is VERY picky when you don't have anything to tie you to your country, I would guess Honduras is like that too.

Hopefully there is an alternative, but non that I've heard of.

Good luck on your k1 journey, we just noticed we sent the check for the wrong amount! :/

That is what we are trying to decide. To attempt to get her sister a visitor visa or play it safe and apply for her other sister who is married. Tegu is a 6 hour 1 way bus ride from her city in Santa Rosa De Copan, and it is not a very safe route :( We need to make sure she only needs to make the trip once.

I am very nervous about the paperwork because there is nowhere for her to get an official passport style photo, so she took one and I sized it as best I could, then had it printed at the store. I also faxed the papers to her, had her sign them and fax them back (even that was not an easy task), return mail for us would be about 2 months.

You would not apply for a visitor visa, they do.

And its now on line.

If it is important for her family to be at the wedding, the K1 is not the route to go.
