Hello,

My wife and I have been waiting for the biometrics a few weeks now. Finally today was the day, but NYC had a huge snow storm so all the streets, subways, buses and a lot of places were closed. One of the place closed was the local USCIS where my wife was suppose to do her biometrics.

She and about 100 other people made copies of their notice and left it in their mailbox at the door because it was closed.

I am going to mail in to re-schedule.

We spoke to USCIS representative today and they said that due to inclement weather, the USCIS will automatically send you a new scheduling date. Is that true?

also... should my wife just do a walk-in tomorrow and see if they would take her ?

Thanks!

If the office is convenient, then definitely try a walk in! There's no harm and the worst they can do is say no! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

It can't hurt, and if nothing else, hopefully you can get good info on rescheduling.

I definitely think you should do a walk in! I had missed my appointment when I had previously filed because I had not received the notice in the mail and two weeks after my initial bio was scheduled I walked in...explained the situation and they allowed me to do the biometrics.

I think you will have a very good chance if you did as it was not your fault.

Best Wishes!

I agree, try to go in again. My husband was denied an early walk-in biometrics, but they said they only time they take unscheduled walk-ins is if their appointment date had passed. This makes me think that they will try to accommodate people after the fact - especially due to an emergency closing! If not, I guess they will reschedule you, and usually that won't effect the overall timeline of the application. Best of luck.

We ended up not going because the weather was still very bad and public transportation was not operating normally. personal transportation was pretty much impossible. We spoke to USCIS personel who was actually very helpful and said that we would automatically be scheduled. She informed us that the NJ, Philly, and NYC area Biometrics centers do not take walk-in and thats their policy over here. She told us not to go in because it would be a waste of our time.

So now, we will just wait for our next appointment.

I think as other said, if it is not too inconvenient you should try despite f what the lady says. The reason being that they all say that. Secondly I have seen several people here on VJ from NY area doing walk ins without issues. And this is recent
