I am sorry for your denial

But you are right, until your situation has changed there is no point in re-applying

It sounds like the boyfriend along with the arrest was the reason for your denial. Could also be financial as I had to show $20,000 in order to get my visa - as in myself, not in joint with parents

Did you receive anything that states the reason for denial?

I suggest you begin working towards a fiance visa and getting your records for your arrest (as you will need them in the future if you proceed with a K-1)

Good luck

They just gave me a piece of paper explaining that I hadn't shown them enough proof that I was going to use my M-1 visa for it's proper intent under act 214(b). It said I just don't have enough ties to my home country.

The lady who interviewed me didn't ask me what I was going to do when I got home or how I was going to use my qualification.. she asked me hardly anything at all about anything back home in the UK?!!

I had to get the record of my arrest (ACPO) and it seems my arrest wasn't even ever recorded it was that silly.

I really don't want to leave it like this as it doesn't seem right.. I've been planning going to this college for 6 months and set all my hopes on it. I really have no idea what to do now apart from go and get a job in England and go to K-1 visa route with a lawyer and then if it's successful sort out college at a later date. Will the fact I was denied a M-1 visa affect my application for the K-1??

M1 is vocational and for a maximum of a year.

No working so you have to be able to pay your way.

What was the course, what were the fees and how long was it going to be?

Why did you choose that course at that college?

The course was for 5 months with fees of $8000 for tuition and materials. It was a beauty therapy/cosmetics course.

I have a few friends who went to the same college previously and said it was one of the best in Massachusetts.

I looked at other schools and when I visited the school in person decided it was the one for me.

With a boyfriend in the US, did you intend to return to the UK?

You can reapply but what can you include to show that you MUST return to the UK after 6 months?

You also might want to show more money in your account as the $7000 was not enough to cover tuition and materials, let alone room and board. They were really strict with my fiancial records for my F-1 visa

Good luck

I am assuming the 7,000 was in pounds, but even so it does not leave enough to pay for all the costs.

And why MA?

My guess is that they would be wondering why you would go that far when there were cheaper and more relevant options nearer to hand.

Here are my thoughts u were denied which was never mentioned in your original post.

1. Did not complete your previous degree.

2. Not Enough fund in the account

3. Currently not working

4. Arrested over misuse of funds

Did not convience CO, that you had enough money to study in US as on M1 you are not allowed to work on or off campus and on top I am thinking CO was not convienced you would complete your course while you would be in US.

Oh, I'm really sorry you got denied, but I had a feeling this would happen. I think your best option would be working toward a K-1.

Like canadian_wife said, they are very strict on being able to financially support yourself. If this school is what you really want to do, then work on getting your K-1, marry your boyfriend, and then try to enroll in your course. The opportunity will still be there for you and once you get an EAD, you will be able to work.

I had already paid off some of the course fees and the 7 thousands pounds was just my personal savings. I explained to them that my parents planned on sending me more money when I needed it and showed them their bank statement with 150'000 in it.

To be honest I'm not really sure what we planned on doing after my study finished but I really did intend to complete the course while I was over there. I think I would have returned to the UK with my fiance for a few months while we started the K-1 process.

We didn't want to rush things with our relationship but guess we're being forced to now.

The F1 is a non immigrant visa and reading from your postings your prime purpose was to find an alternative to the non existent boyfriend visa.

I am sure the Consulate also came to that view.
