Hi everyone, hoping everyone is having a wonderful Christmas!

I'm a little confused and worried (as most of us here, I presume) about the hard copy of the NOA1. It has been more than 10 days since fiance's cheque was encashed, but he still has not received the hard copy of our NOA 1. He did get the USCIS Acceptance Confirmation on Dec. 6, 2010 thru email and txt msg. We have been expecting for the hard copy since then, but as of date, his mailbox remains empty

The email notification advises that we should wait for the hard copy before we start checking our status, but i couldn't help myself when i saw that other members received their hard copies in less than 1 week, so I checked USCIS site. Accdg to the site, our case was updated 12/09/10; is this update the "touched" that i see from time lines of members? Is it possible that the case was touched even before we received the hard copy (as it seems to appear in our case)? Could the delay in delivery be due to the holiday season? Will there be repercussions if the hard copy got lost in his installation (fiance is presently residing in military barracks, and receives mail through mailroom staff soldier who distributes in the mailboxes), and if it got lost, should we ask for a new hard copy? :help:

Thanks for all the insights!

First of all, relax. I've seen hard copy NOA-1s take up to 60 days to arrive in the mail. Plus, you filed just before the holidays, which means everything will be delayed.

You have your case number, follow up in January if you still haven't received your NOA. Quite possibly they cashed your cheque (always the first thing, they do want your money) and have let the paperwork part sit until the holidays are finished.

A touch almost always follows the cashing of your cheque as they file your petition to wait adjudication.

If your fiance is facing deployment (which I'm only guessing if he is currently living in military barraks) then look into filing an expedite

Good luck and Merry Christmas

Thank you for the assurance! i thought that the delay might be due to the holiday season, but still wanted to make sure. Military installation mailrooms are not exactly the most reliable too. But yes, we might as well wait until the holidays are over before we follow up.

He isn't up for deployment, and I hope he won't be for the longest time hehehe, so Im not exactly sure if we qualify for expedited cases, but thank you for the suggestion just the same.

good luck on your journey as well, and have a blessed Christmas!
